PSA TEST

Discussion Forum on Show Your Dick

Anyone over 50 who has prostate cancer in there family should have a total PSA test done when your doctor draws blood yearly. I just found out that I've got prostate cancer and now my prostate is coming out. When I read the book that I was given by my doctor about food and exercise I was doing it all, but still got prostate cancer.

Could you tell something was wrong or changing with sex or peeing?
By [deleted member] at 31,Jul,09 15:04 Hide
No. BHP cause your peeing problems not cancer. Two different things all together. BHP is swelling tissue inside the prostate that applies pressure on your unrinary track. The cancer cells attack the prostate by the inner walls then expand outward.

Wow...sorry about your being stricken with this dreaded cancer. There are many forms of treatment available nowadays that are less invasive and less traumatic. Of course, catching it in its early stages improves the prognosis (as your reminder exemplifies).

Just remember, your penis may make you a male, but it does not make you the man/person that you are or dictate if you will be a good or bad lover. It is only one component to what makes you...you.

Please let us know how it goes and hope to continue "seeing" you here in the future.

Best wishes to you on this and to your continued good health.

My robotic surgery is set for september to have the prostate removed.

By Alloy at 01,Aug,09 21:55 Hide
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis..... my dad recently was also diagnosed with prostate cancer and had the robotic surgery to remove his prostate. He is in his mid 60's. Post-op complications are drastically decreased with this particular procedure. He is doing well now with only having some incontinence only if he laughs. He also has some minor impotance but it is drastically improving. He also gets his blood drawn once every three to four months. He currently has a PSA level of ZERO which is the desired result. Wishing you luck. Keep your spirits up! You are not alone! Keep us updated!

Thanks. I'll update this discussion forum. Prostate cancer is a slow grower, but once it leaves the prostate it can go to your bones, liver or brain. Early diagnosises is the best cure.

I've read a great deal on the subject, and I work in a hospital. Robitic surgery is best way to go. I have seen a DeVincy Robot, quite impressive. I have BPH and keep a close watch on PSA. Best of luck! Please post results!

Thanks for sharing! My father died of prostate cancer years ago.....Needless to say, I get tested yearly!! Best wishes for a quick and full recovery!
By [deleted member] at 03,Aug,09 15:03 Hide
Thanks. Usually when it's caught it's to late. I'm was caught early. Because I had no symptoms and the doctor wanted to do a biospy to create a baseline to watch from. The biospy came up positve.
By foreskins4ever at 03,Aug,09 18:53 Hide
My father said it was normal to have to pee every hour.....kept insisting there was nothing wrong till it was too late. Glad yours was caught early!

I agree, have it tested. I'm having surgery in Sept. Seems like if you live long enough 1 in 2 men will have prostate cancer.
By unkut at 07,Aug,09 15:39 Hide
Sailor, what option did you take for your surgery? I'm going with robotic surgery

By unkut at 21,Sep,09 12:13 Hide
Prostate Cancer update: Had my robotic surgery on the 16th of sept. 2009. The operation took about 2 hours and was home by 2:00 p.m. in thursday Sept 17th.
I was up and walking ever since. The cancer was still contained in my prostate so on other organs were touched and was able to save some of my inner bladder muscles. I well have my staples and catheter removed this fridaty Sept 25th and on to recovery.

Best wishes, guy.

I've seen videos on the da Vinci robot, and as a tech freak, it impresses me no end. Science marches on.

By unkut at 22,Sep,09 11:32 Hide
Even with the catheter on I do get some sensations there.

By unkut at 23,Sep,09 10:55 Hide
woke this morning with a little morning wood. Hopefully a good sign. Can't wait for the catheter to come out on friday.
By fdgr at 23,Sep,09 21:07 Hide

Yay!
Continued good health to all...

By unkut at 24,Sep,09 08:45 Hide
Woke up today with a little more morning wood than yesterday. Haven't taken any pain pills since monday night. One 8 hr tylenol twice a day for five days kept the pain in check. Tomorrow starts a new experience without the catheter.

By foreskins4ever at 24,Sep,09 08:49 Hide
Best wishes for a speedy recovery! Sounds like things went well. You are in our thoughts and prayers!

Just got a PSA with my physical and it was fine.

By unkut at 25,Sep,09 12:30 Hide
Today the staples came out and the catheter removed. Before the catheter was removed i had three syringes of water shot up the catheter tube. When i felt like i had to go, i pissed into a cup, during this time i had to stop and hold the water for 5 seconds and then release. This was repeated three times before total discharge of the water. Now everytime I have to go, I have to repeat this hold and release. Had no problems stopping the flow and starting it back up again. All this was done in front of the nurse. She held a cloth in front of me but kept peeking over, don't know why she was even holding the cloth in front of me. I had no hang ups with her watching.

should've asked for some "help"....hahahaha....
Glad it is going well.

Long life to you, good sir!

By unkut at 30,Sep,09 09:39 Hide
With each day i'm finding more life in the old boy. Even though I can't have sex for the next three and a half weeks. I can get the blood flowing for a semi-hardon.

By Dinky7x7 at 30,Sep,09 17:18 Hide
Three years ago I had the same diagnosis and I elected to have a total removal of the prostate. Today, I am cancer free and I have a wonderful sex life. The only negative is that I can no longer cum, I can climax just like before, just nothing to clean up, not all bad. Good luck.
By Masturstroke at 30,Sep,09 20:16 Hide
The prostate generates the majority of the fluid for cum, so its removal pretty much terminates ejaculation. However, it's a small price indeed for being rid of a really nasty cancer.

By unkut at 01,Oct,09 10:17 Hide
Surgery now fifteen days ago and I was able to post a full erection today.

Had prostrate cancer 6 years ago. Found it early PSA was only 8. I had onco-seeds,94 small radioactive pelets injected. No problems what-soever. I get checked every year now. All you guys should get checked yearly. Removal isn't necessary if you get it early. I had no symptoms at all.
By unkut at 14,Oct,09 15:40 Hide
That was one of my choices also, but I elected the robotic surgery.

By unkut at 14,Oct,09 15:39 Hide
My PSA was tested on the 25 of September and was notified today by mail that it came back at 0.92. Results were where the Dr. wanted it to be.

By unkut at 02,Nov,09 09:55 Hide
Muscle control and erections coming back. With the help of viagra they last longer than without, but can get it on with or without the viagra.

By Masturstroke at 02,Nov,09 12:11 Hide
Kudos, good sir! Your story is an inspiration.

By unkut at 13,Nov,09 10:16 Hide
I'm finding dry orgasms are highly intense. Has anyone else felt the same??

By Masturstroke at 15,Nov,09 13:25 Hide
Mine are close to dry after the TURP, but they're powerful, especially after edging for a few hours.
