Back in the day, I WAS in fact a full fledged, card carrying....
Hippie!
OK, actually, I was just a BIT too young to be a REAL hippie.. The movement had in fact just about petered out by the time I truly came of age but I TRIED, really really HARD to be one....
I certainly LOOKED the part, having hair almost down to my ass, jeans and of course, the obligatory tie-dyed shirts galore along with a number of really cool sandals that I WISH I still had.... I also wore granny glasses and walked around stoned out of my mind 99% of the time..
If I had been old enough to have attended Woodstock, this would have been me..
No DOUBT!
My favorite reading material? Well there was LOTS and lots but for pure joy, NOTHING beat these...
I even had a Hippie Chick for a girlfriend
Her name was Karen and really, she looked quite a bit like that girl in the pic above! (That's why I grabbed that pic to begin with!)
Make Love Not War! Yeah baby, that was ONE of many of our slogans and of course, to everything the response was almost ALWAYS Far out man!
And the music? Oh that incredible music of the late 60's and early 70's.. You can STILL hear it played here at my house and on my own guitar...
Extra credit for ANY of you loyal readers who have made it THIS far... Can you name WHO these folks are? They were VERY active, very instrumental in the hippie movement from coast to coast. They're leader was originally a writer who influenced an entire generation before they finally took to the road. This pic was actually taken at a Woodstock reunion they held, I believe..
Who are these people??
And for even MORE extra credit, who was their leader and name ONE book he wrote?
Of course, all good things MUST come to and end and like a LOT of fellow hippies, once the 70's ended, after I had actually moved to Israel and lived on a Kibbutz for 2+ years, I came back to the USofA and became.......
A YUPPIE!!
Yep, it's true.... LOL
This makes me feel so olddddd.
