DUDE! You do know that you can "step away" by simply not logging on until you're ready, right? You don't have to delete your account. Once a year has passed (give or take), it will be automatically deleted. Go ahead, delete all your photos however. replace/upload something benign such as a beautiful landscape or a picture of a pet. *IF* you come back, your profile will be there, your verified status will be in place and you have retained all of your gifts! *IF* you decide not to return, after “x” amount of time, your profile will be purged by the system.
