Are video downloads supposed to be this slow?

I'm on an extremely fast connection and I'm used to getting 500-2000KB/sec from most sites. Except this one.

Videos download at no faster than 50KB/sec. It's frustrating to spend ten minutes downloading a clip only to find it's about 30 seconds. Feels like I'm back on a modem.

It's weird because there doesn't seem to be any such restriction on photos... they always load instantaneously.

Is this a limitation on unpaid accounts, or is there a technical reason for it?

Video downloads consume more system resources. And I'm not talking about bandwidth, they are hitting hard on a storage system - it's always a stress for the discs when different people simultaneously download several long videos.

Therefore there are limits:

basic account = 48 kbps
premium = 192 kbps
diamond = 512 kbps

kbps - kilobytes per second in this case. You have basic account that's why you have about 50kb/sec speed.

Same images are usually viewed by many people and thus are mostly cached and not loaded from the discs at all. Hence no restrictions on images.

I'm not referring to the size limit, I'm talking about the speed at which they download.
