The great British actor Sir John Hurt has passed away at the age of 77. He was brilliant as the eponymous "hero" in the 1980 film "The Elephant Man", one of the few films in black and white that I've seen in a cinema. (The only other one I can think of offhand is "The Last Picture Show" in 1971.) John also acted in many t.v. dramas and on the stage too.
