Sad news, actor Richard Chamberlain passed away on Saturday, two days before his 91st birthday. He was born on the same day and in the same year as the lovely Shirley Jones who today, 31st March 2025, is celebrating her 91st, another of my favourites whom I had the pleasure of meeting after her concert in London exactly 15 years ago in March 2010. People with long memories like me will remember Richard as the eponymous Dr. Kildare in the 1960s t.v. series with Raymond Massey as Dr. Gillespie and a beautiful theme tune. He did lots of other good role too, including playing Tchaikovsky in the 1970 film "The Music Lovers" directed by Ken Russell and also the 1983 t.v. mini-series of Colleen McCulloch's 1977 novel "The Thorn Birds" that also starred Barbara Stanwyck, Jean Simmons and Christopher Plummer, to name just a few. So sad news about Richard's passing, R.I.P. but let's all wish Shirley a very happy 91st birthday.
