From my understanding, Michigan has the worst roads of all 50 states. There doesn't seem to be any road, highway or interstate that hasn't been exempt of construction in soooo long. What makes me shake my head and think WTF are 2 signs that read as follows;

- Fines doubled in work zones. ( followed by the next sign )

- Injure or kill a worker $7500 fine 15 years prison

Really? There's a dollar value placed on a workers life?

It's good to see so many old topics revived in the forum, thank you for using the search option. What is also prominent, the number of threads written in German. I wish I was multilingual and was able to read and write in another language. I admire the European education system, apparently it was requirred that European schools teach English. We were required to learn Spanish however being out of school for a while and not using and/or practicing that skill with some regularity, it is all but gone. I am rather crippled, I understand more than I am able to speak.........

Hmmm....... Did you request your time off in advance? Have other employees already been granted the period of time that you requested off? You don't say what you do but if it's a seasonal type business or something that spikes during this time of the year, it would be understandable why your employer needed to deny your time off.

In today's competitive market with the economy so tight and business so bottom line oriented, be thankful to have a job. The only thing your employer owes you is your paycheck every week or every other. I looked and your profile indicates you're 24, most likely just a recent graduate from university. Get used to it, you can't always get what you want. On the upside, you only have 40 more years to deal with it OR you become the employer and run your business as you see fit. I'm really not trying to be harsh but this is reality.

I love the winter as I feel less out of step with the rest of the world. Being disabled, I don't get out much. People, certainly here on my mountain range deep in the woods of PA, hibernate indoors at that time. At this time of year, so many on FB are talking about their vacations and other outdoorsy activities, and the commercials and kids playing outside, make me feel so alone. I like paying attention to the seasonal shifts, too: the equinoxes, solstices, harvest times....makes me feel connected to nature and this world we live in.
