The other day, I posted something in another thread where I asked members what was the first word that popped into their head when they saw/heard the word "cheap"?
My first response was from
Whoknows and his reply was "perfume". That phrase, cheap perfume, made me instantly think of Journey's DON'T STOP BELIEVING. The post went in a different direction from what I planned but it was so much fun! Example, there were other responses to the word "cheap" that included shoddy, floozy and several more and
huxley999 was able to cite songs with those words in them!
Let's pick a RANDOM word and see if a song comes to mind. My guess is not every word will trigger a song to pop into our heads, but who knows. If you would kindly post a few lines of the song that reflects "the word", the name of the song and the artist and if you like, a YouTube link to the song. PLEASE ATTACH YOUR SONG TO THE PARTICULAR "WORD OF THE DAY".
Let's have some musical fun!

Only a winter's tale - David Essex

The nights are colder now
Maybe I should close the door
And anyway the snow has covered all your footsteps
And I can follow you no more
The fire still burns at night
My memories are warm and clear
But everybody knows it's hard to be alone
At this time of year
It was only a winter's tale
Just another winter's tale
And why should the world take notice
Of one more love that's failed?
A love that could never be
Though it meant a lot to you and me
On a worldwide scale
We're just another winter's tale
While I stand alone
A bell is ringing far away
I wonder if you hear
I wonder if you're listening
I wonder where you are today
Good luck, I wish you well
For all that wishes may be worth
I hope that love and strength
Are with you for the length of your time on earth
It was only a winter's tale
JUST another winter's tale
And why should the world take notice
Of one more love that's failed?
It's a love that could never be
Though it meant a lot to you and me
On a worldwide scale
We're just another winter's tale
It was only a winter's tale

There's this girl that's been on my mind
All the time, Su-Su-Sussudio oh oh
Now she don't even know my name
But I think she likes me just the same
Su-Su-Sussudio oh oh
Ah if she called me I'd be there
I'd come running anywhere
She's all I need, all my life
I feel so good if I just say the word
Su-Su-Sussudio, just say the word
Oh Su-Su-Sussudio
Now I know that I'm too young
My love has just begun
Su-Su-Sussudio oh oh
Oh give me a chance, give me a sign
I'll show her anytime
Su-Su-Sussudio oh oh
Ah, I've just got to have her, have her now
I've got to get closer but I don't know how
She makes me nervous and makes me scared
But I feel so good if I just say the word
Su-Su-Sussudio, just say the word
Oh Su-Su-Sussudio, oh
Ah, she's all I need all of my life
I feel so good if I just say the word
Su-Su-Sussudio
I just say the word
Oh Su-Su-Sussudio
I just say the word oh Su-Su-Sussudio
I'll say the word
Oh, Su-Su-Sussudio oh oh oh
Just say the word
Just, just, just say the word uh
Just say the word
Su-Su-Sussudio (oh oh oh)
Su-Su-Sussudio (oh oh oh)
Su-Su-Sussudio (oh oh oh)
Su-Su-Sussudio (oh oh oh)
Sussudio (oh oh oh)
Su-Su-Sussudio (oh oh oh)
Just say the word
Su-Su-Sussudio (oh oh oh)
say the word oh
Just say the word
Just, just, just say the word

If you should catch me crying
As the day begins
But beneath my tears
There's a strange kind of glow
And a silly little grin
Well, think nothing of me (think nothing of me)
I'm JUST in love and I love it
I'm just in love (she's in love) and I love it (she's in love)
I'm just in love (she's in love) and I love it
Baby, baby, look at me
Baby, baby, can't you see?
I'm just in love
If you should catch me laughing
On a rainy day
Catching raindrops on the tip of my tongue
Like a little child that play
Well, think nothing of me (think nothing of me)
I'm just in love and I love it
I'm just in love (she's in love) and I love it (she's in love)
I'm just in love (she's in love) and I love it
Baby, baby, look at me
Baby, baby, can't you see?
I'm just in love
Well, think nothing of me (think nothing of me)
Cause' I'm just in love and I love it
I'm just in love (she's in love) and I love it (she's in love)
I'm just in love (she's in love) you know I love it
Baby, baby, look at me
Baby, baby, can't you see?
I'm just in love
I'm just in love
I'm so in love
Look at me, look at me, I'm in love...
Taking my time
Choosin' my line
Trying to decide what to do
Looks like my stop
Don't wanna get off
Got myself hung up on you
Seems to me
You don't want to talk about it
Seems to me
You JUST turn your pretty head and walk away
Places I've known
Things that I'm growin'
Don't taste the same without you
I got myself in
The worst mess I've been
And I find myself startin' to doubt you
Seems to me
Talk all night here comes the mornin'
Seems to me
You JUST forget what we said and greet the day
Seems to me
You don't wanna talk about it
Seems to me
You JUST turn your pretty head and walk away
I've got to cool myself down
Stomping around
Thinkin' some words I can't name ya
Meet ya half way
I got nothing to say
Still I don't s'pose I can blame ya
Seems to me
You don't want to talk about it
Seems to me
You JUST turn your pretty head and walk away
Walk away

I come home, in the mornin' light
My mother says, "When you gonna live your life right?"
Oh momma dear, we're not the fortunate ones
And girls, they wanna have fun
Oh girls just wanna have fun
The phone rings, in the middle of the night
My father yells, "What you gonna do with your life?"
Oh daddy dear, you know you're still number one
But girls, they wanna have fun
Oh girls just wanna have
That's all they really want
Some fun
When the workin' day is done
Oh girls, they wanna have fun
Oh girls just wanna have fun (girls, they want)
(Wanna have fun, girls)
(Wanna have)
Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest o' the world
I wanna be the one to walk in the sun
Oh girls, they wanna have fun
Oh girls just wanna have
That's all they really want
Is some fun
When the workin' day is done
Oh girls, they wanna have fun
Oh girls just wanna have fun (girls, they want)
(Wanna have fun, girls)
(Wanna have)
They just want, they just wanna (girls)
They just want, they just wanna (girls just wanna have fun)
Oh girls, girls just wanna have fun
(Just want, they just wanna)
They just wanna, they just wanna (girls)
They just want, they just wanna (girls just wanna have fun)
Oh girls, girls just wanna have fun
When the workin'
When the workin' day is done
Oh, when the workin' day is done
Oh, girls, girls just wanna have fun
Everybody
Huh, huh
They just want, they just wanna (girls)
They just want, they just wanna (girls just wanna have fun)
Oh, girls, girls just wanna have fun
(They just wanna, they just wanna) when the workin'
When the working day is done (they just want, they just wanna)
Oh, when the working day is done (girls, girls just wanna have fun)
Oh girls, girls just wanna have fun

No need to whine, boy,
Like a wind-up toy you stutter at my feet,
And it's never the time, boy,
You've had too much wine to stumble up my street.
Well it isn't a problem,
Nothing we can't keep between the sheets,
Tell me you're mine, love,
And I will not wait for other bedtime treats.
Is there something you lack,
When I'm flat on my back,
Is there something that I can do for you?
It's always something you ate,
Or it's something you hate,
Tell me is it the way that I touch you?
Have you found a new mate,
And is she really great,
Is it JUST that I'm much too much for you?
Oh, oh oh , ouah oh ah
Don't feed me a line, boy,
I can hear that voice you use upon the phone,
And there's no need to be coy,
That is something you can do upon your own.
Well it isn't problem, nothing we can't solve so just relax.
Am I on the wrong train, love,
And will I have to tie you to the tracks.
Is there something you lack,
When I'm flat on my back,
Is there something that I can do for you?
It's always something you ate,
Or it's something you hate,
Tell me is it the way that I touch you?
Have you found a new mate,
And is she really great,
Is it just that I'm much too much for you?
Oh, oh oh , ouah oh ah
I really want you to
Oh, oh oh , ouah oh ah
I really want you to
Oh, oh oh , ouah oh ah

Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
Everybody knows that baby's got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls
She takes JUST like a woman
She makes love JUST like a woman
And she aches JUST like a woman
But she breaks JUST like a little girl
Queen Mary, she's my friend
Yes, I believe I'll go see her again
Nobody has to guess that baby can't be blessed
'Til she finally sees that she's like all the rest
With her fog, her amphetamine and her pearls
She takes JUST like a woman
She makes love JUST like a woman
And she aches JUST like a woman
But she breaks JUST like a little girl
It was raining from the first
And I was dying there of thirst
So I came in here
And your long-time curse hurts
But what's worse
Is this pain in here
I can't stay in here
Ain't it clear that...
I JUST can't fit
Yes, I believe it's time for us to quit
But when we meet again, introduced as friends
Please don't let on that you knew me when
I was hungry and it was your world
Ah, you fake JUST like a woman
You make love JUST like a woman
Then you ache JUST like a woman
But ya' break JUST like a little girl
One more night, one more night
I've been trying ooh so long to let you know
Let you know how I feel
And if I stumble if I fall, just help me back
So I can make you see
Please give me one more night, give me one more night
One more night cos I can't wait forever
Give me JUST one more night, oh JUST one more night
Oh one more night cos I can't wait forever
I've been sitting here so long
Wasting time, JUST staring at the phone
And I was wondering should I call you
Then I thought maybe you're not alone
Please give me one more night, give me JUST one more night
Oh one more night, cos I can't wait forever
Please give me one more night, ooh JUST one more night
Oh one more night, cos I can't wait forever
Give me one more night, give me JUST one more night
Ooh one more night, cos I can't wait forever
Like a river to the sea
I will always be with you
And if you sail away
I will follow you
Give me one more night, give me JUST one more night
Oh one more night, cos I can't wait forever
I know there'll never be a time you'll ever feel the same
And I know it's only words
But if you change your mind you know that I'll be here
And maybe we both can learn
Give me JUST one more night, give me JUST one more night
Ooh one more night, cos I can't wait forever
Give me JUST one more night, give me JUST one more night
Ooh one more night, cos I can't wait forever
Each day through my window I watch her as she passes by
I say to myself, "You're such a lucky guy"
To have a girl like her is truly a dream come true
Out of all the fellows in the world, she belongs to you
But it was JUST my imagination
Runnin' away with me
It was JUST my imagination
Runnin' away with me
Ooh (Soon)
Soon we'll be married and raise a family (Oh yeah)
A cozy little home out in the country
With two children, maybe three
I tell you I (I, I) can visualize it all
This couldn't be a dream, for too real it all seems
But it was JUST my imagination, once again
Runnin' away with me
Tell you, it was JUST my imagination
Runnin' away with me
Ev'ry night on my knees I pray
"Dear Lord, hear my plea
Don't ever let another take her love from me"
Or I will surely die, hmm
(Her love is) heavenly
When her arms enfold me
I hear a tender rhapsody
But in reality
She doesn't even know me
(JUST my imagination) Once again
Runnin' away with me, oh
Tell you it was JUST my imagination
Runnin' away with me
I've never met her but I can't forget her
(JUST my imagination) Ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Runnin' away with me, ooh
JUST my imagination
Runnin' away with me
She's never hard to find (JUST my imagination)
She's always on my mind (Runnin' away with me)
Been away, haven't seen you in a while
How've you been, have you changed your style?
And do you think that we've grown up differently?
Don't seem the same, seems you've lost your feel for me
So let's leave it alone 'cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we JUST disagree
Ooh ooh ooh, oh oh oh
I'm goin' back to a place that's far away, how 'bout you?
Have you got a place to stay?
Why should I care when I'm JUST trying to get along
We were friends and now it's the end of our love song
So let's leave it alone 'cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we JUST disagree
Ooh ooh ooh, oh oh oh
So let's leave it alone 'cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we JUST disagree

I've got to leave old Durham town,
I've got to leave old Durham town.
I've got to leave old Durham town,
And the leavings gonna get me down.
Back in nineteen forty-four,
I remember Daddy walking out the door.
Mama told me he was going to war, he was leaving,
Leaving, leaving, leaving, leaving me.
When I was a boy, I spent my time,
Sitting on the BANKS of the river Tyne.
Watching all the ships going down the line, they were leaving,
Leaving, leaving, leaving, leaving me.
The last week Mama passed away,
Good-bye, son, was all she'd say.
There's no cause for me to stay, so I'm leaving,
Leaving, leaving, leaving, leaving free.

When two lovers meet down beside the green bower
When two lovers meet down beneath the green tree
When Mary, fond Mary, declared to her lover
"You have stolen my poor heart from the Banks of the Lee"
I loved her very dearly, so true and sincerely
There was no one in this wide world I loved better than she
Every bush, every bower, every sweet Irish flower
Reminds me of my Mary, on the banks of the Lee.
"Don't stay out late, love, on the moorlands, my Mary
Don't stay out late, love, on the moorlands from me"
How little was our notion when we parted on the ocean
That we were forever parted from the Banks of the Lee
I loved her very dearly, so true and sincerely
There was no one in this wide world I loved better than she
Every bush, every bower, every sweet Irish flower
Reminds me of my Mary, on the banks of the Lee.
I will pluck her some roses, some blooming Irish roses
I will pluck her some roses, the fairest that ever grew
And I'll leave them on the grave of my own true lovely Mary
In that cold and silent churchyard where she sleeps 'neath the dew
I loved her very dearly, so true and sincerely
There was no one in this wide world I loved better than she
Every bush, every bower, every sweet Irish flower
Reminds me of my Mary, on the banks of the Lee.
Bonnie and Clyde - Georgie Fame

Bonnie and Clyde were pretty lookin' people
But I can tell you people, they were the devil's children
Bonnie and Clyde began their evil doin'
One lazy afternoon down Savannah way
They went and robbed a store, and high-tailed outa that town
Got clean away in a stolen car
And waited till the heat died down
Bonnie and Clyde advanced their reputation
And made the graduation into the BANKING business
"Reach for the sky", talking Clyde would holler
As Bonnie loaded dollars in the dewlap bag
Now one brave man-he tried to take 'em alone
They left him lying in a pool of blood
And laughed about it all the way home
Bonnie and Clyde got to be public enemy number one
Running and hiding from every American lawman's gun
They used to laugh about dying
But deep inside 'em they knew
That pretty soon they'd be lying
Beneath the ground together
Pushing up daisies to welcome the sun and the morning dew
Acting upon reliable information
A federal deputation laid a deadly ambush
When Bonnie and Clyde came walking in the sunshine
A half a dozen carbines opened up on them
Bonnie and Clyde, they lived a lot together
And finally together they died

All the gold in California
Is in the bank in the middle of Beverly Hills
In somebody else's name.
So if you're dreamin' about California,
It don't matter at all where you've played before.
California's a brand-new game.
Tryin' to be a hero, winding up a zero,
Can scar a man forever right down to your soul.
Living on the spotlight can kill a man outright
'Cause everything that glitters is not gold.
All the gold in California
Is in the bank in the middle of Beverly Hills
In somebody else's name.
So if you're dreamin' about California,
It don't matter at all where you've played before.
California's a brand-new game.
I'm gonna tell you a story
I'm gonna tell you about my town
I'm gonna tell you a big fat story, baby
Aw, it's all about my town
Yeah, down by the river
Down by the BANKS of the river Charles
Aw, that's what's happenin', baby
That's where you'll find me
Along with lovers, muggers, and thieves
Aw, but they're cool, too
Well, I love that dirty water
Oh, Boston, you're my home
Oh, you're the number one place
Frustrated women (I mean they're frustrated)
Have to be in by 12 o'clock (oh, that's a shame)
But I'm wishin' and a-hopin', oh
That just once those doors weren't locked
I like to save time for my baby to walk around
Well, I love that dirty water
Oh, Boston, you're my home, oh, yeah
'Cause I love that dirty water
Ooh, oh, Boston, you're my home, oh, yeah
Well, I love that dirty water (I love it, baby)
I love that dirty water (I love Boston)
I love that dirty water (have you heard about the strangler?)
I love that dirty water (I'm the man, I'm the man)
I love that dirty water (oww)
I love that dirty water (come on, come on)
I love that dirty water (come on)
I love that dirty...

Ooh, ooh...
Hey
Mama, take this badge from me
I can't use it anymore
It's gettin' dark, too dark to see
Feels like I'm knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, hey, hey, hey hey, yeah
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, ooh
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, ooh-oh, yeah
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, ayy, hey, yeah
Ooh-oh, yeah, oh, yeah, aw
Mama, put my guns in the ground (ooh)
I can't shoot them anymore (ooh)
That cold black cloud is comin' down (ooh)
Feels like I'm knockin' on heaven's door (ooh)
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, hey, hey, hey, hey, yeah
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, ooh, yeah
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, ayy, hey, yeah
Ooh...
You just better start sniffin' your own rank subjugation, Jack
Because it's just you against your tattered libido, the bank, and the mortician, forever, man
And it wouldn't be luck if you could get out of life alive
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, hey, hey, hey-hey, yeah
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, ooh, yeah
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, ooh, no, no, no, woah-oh
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, no, no, no, woah, no
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, woah-woah, woah-yeah
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, ooh, yeah

I was riding on the Mayflower when I thought I spied some land
I yelled for Captain Arab, I have you understand
Who came running to the deck, said, "Boys, forget the whale
Look on over yonder, cut the engines, change the sail
Haul on the bowline", we sang that melody
Like all tough sailors do when they're far away at sea
"I think I'll call it America," I said as we hit land
I took a deep breath, I fell down, I could not stand
Captain Arab he started writing up some deeds
He said, "Let's set up a fort and start buyin' a place with beads"
Just then this cop comes down the street, crazy as a loon
He throws us all in jail for carrying harpoons
Ah, me I busted out, don't even ask me how
I went to get some help, I walked by a Guernsey cow
Who directed me down to the Bowery slums
Where people carried signs around sayin', "Ban the bums"
I jumped right into line sayin' "I hope that I'm not late"
When I realized I hadn't eaten for five days straight
I went into a restaurant looking for the cook
I told him I was the editor of a famous etiquette book
The waitress he was handsome, he wore a powder blue cape
I ordered some Suzette, I said "could you please make that Crepe?"
Just then the whole kitchen exploded from boilin' fat
Food was flyin' everywhere, I left without my hat
Now, I didn't mean to be nosy but I went into a BANK
To get some bail for Arab and all the boys back in the tank
They asked me for some collateral and I pulled down my pants
They threw me in the alley when up comes this girl from France
Who invited me to her house, I went but she had a friend
Who knocked me out and robbed my boots and I was on the street again
Well, I rapped upon a house with the U.S. flag upon display
I said, "Could you help me out, I got some friends down the way"
"The man says, "Get out of here, I'll tear you limb from limb"
I said, "You know they refused Jesus, too", he said, "You're not Him
Get out of here before I break your bones, I ain't your pop"
I decided to have him arrested and I went lookin' for a cop
I ran right outside, I hopped inside a cab
I went out the other door, this Englishman said, "Fab"
As he saw me leap a hot dog stand and a chariot that stood
Parked across from a building advertising brotherhood
I ran right through the front door like a hobo sailor does
But it was just a funeral parlor and the man asked me who I was
I repeated that my friends were all in jail with a sigh
He gave me his card, he said, "Call me if they die"
I shook his hand and said goodbye, ran out to the street
When a bowling ball came down the road and knocked me off my feet
A pay phone was ringing and it just about blew my mind
When I picked it up and said hello, this foot came through the line
Well, by this time I's fed up at tryin' to make a stab
At bringing back any help for my friends and Captain Arab
I decided to flip a coin like either heads or tails
Would let me know if I should go back to ship or back to jail
So I hocked my sailor suit and I got a coin to flip
It came up tails, it rhymed with sails, so I made it back to the ship
Well, I got back and took the parking ticket off the mast
I was ripping it to shreds when this coastguard boat went past
They asked me my name and I said, "Captain Kidd"
They believed me but they wanted to know what exactly that I did
I said for the Pope of Eruke I was employed
They let me go right away, they were very paranoid
Well, the last I heard of Arab, he was stuck on a whale
That was married to the deputy sheriff of the jail
But the funniest thing was when I was leavin' the bay
I saw three ships sailin' there, were all heading my way
I asked the captain what his name was and how come he didn't drive a truck
He said his name was Columbus, I just said, "Good luck"

On the BANK of the river stood Running Bear, young Indian brave
On the other side of the river stood his lovely Indian maid
Little White Dove was her name, such a lovely sight to see
But their tribes fought with each other, so their love could never be
Running Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love big as the sky
Running Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love that couldn't die
He couldn't swim the raging river 'cause the river was too wide
He couldn't reach Little White Dove waiting on the other side
In the moonlight he could see her throwing kisses 'cross the waves
Her little heart was beating faster, waiting there for her brave
Running Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love big as the sky
Running Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love that couldn't die
Running Bear dove in the water, Little White Dove did the same
And they swam out to each other, through the swirling stream they came
As their hands touched and their lips met, the raging river pulled them down
Now they'll always be together in that happy hunting ground
Running Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love big as the sky
Running Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love that couldn't die

Getting born in the state of Mississippi
Papa was a copper, and her mama was a hippy
In Alabama she would swing a hammer
Price you got to pay when you break the panorama
She never knew that there was anything more than poor
What in the world does your company take me for?
Black bandanna, sweet Louisiana
Robbing on a BANK in the state of Indiana
She's a runner
Rebel, and a stunner
On her merry way saying baby, watcha gonna?
Looking down the barrel of a hot metal forty-five
Just another way to survive
California, rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California, show your teeth
She's my priestess
I'm your priest
Yeah, yeah, yeah
She's a lover, baby, and a fighter
Should've seen it coming when I got a little brighter
With a name like Dani California
Day was gonna come when I was gonna mourn ya
A little loaded, she was stealing another breath
I love my baby to death
California, rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California, show your teeth
She's my priestess
I'm your priest
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Who knew the other side of you?
Who knew that others died to prove?
Too true to say goodbye to you
Too true to say, say, say
Pushed the fader, gifted animator
One for the now, and eleven for the later
Never made it up to Minnesota
North Dakota man
Wasn't gunnin' for the quota
Down in the Badlands she was saving the best for last
It only hurts when I laugh
Gone too fast
California, rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California, show your teeth
She's my priestess
I'm your priest
Yeah, yeah, yeah
California, rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California, show your teeth
She's my priestess
I'm your priest

Up in the mornin' and out to SCHOOL
The teacher is teachin' the Golden Rule
American history and practical math
You study' em hard and hopin' to pass
Workin' your fingers right down to the bone
And the guy behind you won't leave you alone
Ring, ring, goes the bell
The cook in the lunchroom's ready to sell
You're lucky if you can find a seat
You're fortunate if you have time to eat
Back in the classroom, open your books
Gee, but the teacher don't know how mean she looks
Soon as three o'clock rolls around
You finally lay your burden down
Close up your books, get out of your seat
Down the halls and into the street
Up to the corner and 'round the bend
Right to the juke joint you go in
Drop the coin right into the slot
You gotta hear something that's really hot
With the one you love, you're makin' romance
All day long you been wantin' to dance
Feelin' the music from head to toe
'Round and 'round and 'round you go
Hail, hail rock 'n' roll
Deliver me from the days of old
Long live rock 'n' roll
The beat of the drum is loud and bold
Rock, rock, rock 'n' roll
The feelin' is there, body and soul

I had a friend was a big baseball player
Back in high SCHOOL
He could throw that speed ball by you
Make you look like a fool boy
Saw him the other night at this roadside bar
I was walking in, he was walking out
We went back inside sat down had a few drinks
But all he kept talking about was
Glory days, well they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days
Well there's a girl that lives up the block
Back in school she could turn all the boy's heads
Sometimes on a Friday I'll stop by
And have a few drinks after she put her kids to bed
Her and her husband Bobby, well they split up
I guess it's two years gone by now
We just sit around talking about the old times,
She says when she feels like crying
She starts laughing thinking about
Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days
I think I'm going down to the well tonight
And I'm going to drink till I get my fill
And I hope when I get old I don't sit around thinking about it
But I probably will
Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture
A little of the glory of, well time slips away
And leaves you with nothing mister but
Boring stories of glory days
Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days
Well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days
Well alright oo yeah
Well alright come on now
Well alright oo yeah
Well alright come on now
With you, with you, with you, with you
All right boys keep it rocking now
Keep on going, we gonna go home now
Bring it home, yeah bring it home
Alright, alright, well alright, well alright, well alright, well alright
Well alright, alright, alright, let's go

Farewell, Royal High SCHOOL,
We'll remember you.
Dear alma mater,
We're steadfast, loyal, and true.
As we go onward
In the lives we lead.
Your light will guide us,
Your motto is our creed.
We will look back fondly
At your ivy walls,
Recalling precious moments
Within your hallowed halls.
Farewell, Royal High School,
We'll remember you.
Dear alma mater,
We're steadfast, loyal, and true.
My eyes adored you
Though I never laid a hand on you
My eyes adored you
Like a million miles away from me
You couldn't see how I adored you
So close, so close and yet so far
Carried your books from SCHOOL
Playin' make believe you're married to me
You were fifth grade, I was sixth when we came to be
Walking home every day over Bonnicut Bridge and Bay
'Til we grew into the me and you
Who went our separate ways
My eyes adored you
Though I never laid a hand on you
My eyes adored you
Like a million miles away from me
You couldn't see how I adored you
So close, so close and yet so far
Headed for city lights
Climbed the ladder up to fortune and fame
I worked my fingers to the bone
Made myself a name
Funny, I seem to find
That no matter how the years unwind
Still I reminisce about the girI miss
And the love I left behind
My eyes adored you
Though I never laid a hand on you
My eyes adored you
Like a million miles away from me
You couldn't see how I adored you
So close, so close and yet so far
All my life I will remember (Though I never laid a hand on you)
How warm and tender we were way back then (My eyes adored you)
Whoa-whoa, baby (Like a million miles away from me)
(You couldn't see how I adored you)
Oh the feeling, sad regrets (So close)
I know I won't ever forget you, my childhood friend (So close and yet so far)
My eyes adored you
Though I never laid a hand on you
My eyes adored you
Like a million miles away from me
You couldn't see how I adored you
So close, so close and yet so far
My eyes adored you
Though I never laid a hand on you
My eyes adored you
I got my first real six-string
Bought it at the five-and-dime
Played it 'til my fingers bled
Was the summer of '69
Me and some guys from SCHOOL
Had a band and we tried real hard.
Jimmy quit, Jody got married
I should've known we'd never get far
Oh, when I look back now
That summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Yeah, I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life
Ain't no use in complainin'
When you've got a job to do
Spent my evenings down at the drive-in
And that's when I met you, yeah
Standin' on your mama's porch
You told me that you'd wait forever
Oh, and when you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life
Oh, yeah.
Back in the summer of '69, oh.
Man we were killin' time
We were young and restless
We needed to unwind
I guess nothin' can last forever, forever, no! yeah!
And now the times are changin'
Look at everything that's come and gone
Sometimes when I play that old six-string
I think about you, wonder what went wrong
Standin' on your mama's porch
You told me that it'd last forever
Oh, and when you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life
Oh, yeah.
Back in the summer of '69, oh.
It was the summer of '69, oh, yeah.
Me and my baby in '69, oh.
It was the summer, the summer, the summer of '69, yeah.

Headmaster, this is my confession.
This time you won't be overjoyed,
I have destroyed what little faith you had in me,
I've been such a naughty boy.
Headmaster I am at your mercy,
I've been such a little fool.
I've dishonored one who trusted me,
I have broken all the rules.
I've been with those naughty little girls again,
Now those naughty little girls are going to put me to shame.
I wish that I'd been born with a little more sense,
This time it's a serious offense.
I feel like an Innocent victim,
I feel that I just can't win.
Headmaster please give me one chance,
Please help me to act like a man.
I've let down the SCHOOL,
I've broken all the rules,
I've let down the side,
I've committed a crime.
Headmaster, this is my confession,
I've been such a little fool.
I've dishonored one who trusted me,
I have broken all the rules.
I've been such a little fool.
Don't tell all my friends I bent over,
Don't tell them you made me cry.
Don't tell them I've been sacrificed,
Don't tell all my friends or I'll die.
Headmaster don't beat me I beg you,
I know that I've let you down.
Headmaster please spare me I beg you,
Don't make me take my trousers down.

Nobody gets off in this town
Trains don't even slow down
My high SCHOOL sweetheart's married and gone
They met on a bus to San Antone
They Greyhound stops!
Somebody gets on
But nobody gets off in this town
Nobody gets off in this town
Old folks 'round here wear a frown
Now let me see if I can set the scene
It's a one-dog town and he's old and mean
There's one stop light but it's always green
Nobody gets off in this town
Nobody gets off in this town
High school colors are brown
They can't drag Main because it kicks up dust
Their cars and their dreams area all starting to rust
The high school dances are always a bust
Nobody gets off in this
Nobody gets off in this town
They oughta just tear it down
'Cause in the winter you freeze and in the summer you fry
Utility bill's the only thing that gets high
I'd go for a drink but this county is dry
Nobody gets off
Nobody gets off
Nobody gets off in this square old merry-go-round
No, nobody gets off in this town
Well, we got no choice
All the girls and boys (girls and boys)
Making all that noise (ooh)
'Cause they found new toys
We can't salute ya
Can't find a flag
If that don't suit ya
That's a drag
SCHOOL'S out for summer
SCHOOL'S out forever
I'm bored to pieces
Well, we got no class
And we got no principals (ooh)
And we got no intelligence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes, well
We can't salute ya
Can't find a flag
If that don't suit ya
That's a drag
SCHOOL'S out for summer
SCHOOL'S out forever
I'm bored to pieces
No more pencils, no more books
No more teachers, dirty looks
Out for summer, out 'til fall
We might not come back at all
SCHOOL'S out for summer (detention)
SCHOOL'S out forever
SCHOOL'S out with fever
SCHOOL'S out completely
SCHOOL'S out for summer

Everybody screamed
When I kissed the teacher
And they must have thought they dreamed
When I kissed the teacher
All my friends at SCHOOL
They had never seen the teacher blush, he looked like a fool
Nearly petrified 'cause he was
[Verse 2]
Taken by surprise (Hug, hug him, I wanna kiss him)
When I kissed the teacher (Hug, hug him, I wanna kiss him)
Couldn't quite believe his eyes (Hug, hug him, I wanna kiss him)
When I kissed the teacher (Hug, hug him, I wanna kiss him)
My whole class went wild
As I held my breath the world stood still, but then he just smiled
I was in the seventh heaven
When I kissed the teacher
[Chorus]
One of these days
Gonna tell him I dream of him every night
One of these days
Gonna show him I care, gonna teach him a lesson alright
[Verse 3]
I was in a trance (Hug, hug him, I wanna kiss him)
When I kissed the teacher (Hug, hug him, I wanna kiss him)
Suddenly I took the chance (Hug, hug him, I wanna kiss him)
When I kissed the teacher (Hug, hug him, I wanna kiss him)
Leaning over me
He was trying to explain the laws of geometry
And I couldn't help it
I just had to kiss the teacher
See pop shows near Birmingham
Get tickets as low as $31
[Chorus]
One of these days
Gonna tell him I dream of him every night
One of these days
Gonna show him I care, gonna teach him a lesson alright
[Verse 4]
What a crazy day (Hug, hug him, I wanna kiss him)
When I kissed the teacher (Hug, hug him, I wanna kiss him)
All my sense had flown away (Hug, hug him, I wanna kiss him)
When I kissed the teacher (Hug, hug him, I wanna kiss him)
My whole class went wild
As I held my breath, the world stood still, but then he just smiled
I was in the seventh heaven
When I kissed the teacher
[Outro]
(I wanna hug, hug, hug him) When I kissed the teacher
(I wanna hug, hug him) When I kissed the teacher
(I wanna hug, hug, hug him) When I kissed the teacher
(I wanna hug, hug him) When I kissed the teacher
(I wanna hug...)
Backstroke lover
Always hidin' 'neath the covers
'Til I talked to your daddy, he say
He said, "You ain't seen nothin'
'Til you're down on a muffin
Then you're sure to be a-changin' your ways"
I met a cheerleader
Was a real young bleeder
Oh, the times I could reminisce
'Cause the best things of lovin'
With her sister and her cousin
Only started with a little kiss
Like this
Seesaw swingin' with the boys in the SCHOOL
And your feet flyin' up in the air
Singing, hey diddle diddle
With your kitty in the middle
Of the swing like you didn't care
So I took a big chance
At the high SCHOOL dance
With a missy who was ready to play
Wasn't me she was foolin'
'Cause she knew what she was doin'
And I know love was here to stay
When she told me to
Walk this way
Walk this way
Walk this way
Walk this way
Walk this way
Walk this way
Walk this way
Walk this way
Just give me a kiss
Like this
Schoolgirl sweetie with the classy kinda sassy
Little skirt's climbin' way up the knee
There was three young ladies in the SCHOOL gym locker
When I noticed they was lookin' at me
I was a high SCHOOL loser, never made it with a lady
'Til the boys told me somethin' I missed
Then my next door neighbor with a daughter had a favor
So I gave her just a little kiss
Like this
Seesaw swingin' with the boys in the SCHOOL
And your feet flyin' up in the air
Singing, hey diddle diddle
With your kitty in the middle
Of the swing like you didn't care
So I took a big chance
At the high SCHOOL dance
With a missy who was ready to play
Wasn't me she was foolin'
'Cause she knew what she was doin'
When she told me how to walk this way
She told me to
Walk this way
Talk this way
Walk this way
Walk this way
Walk this way
Walk this way
Walk this way
Talk this way
Just give me a kiss

One hot angel
One cool devil
Your mind on the fantasy
Living on the ecstasy
Give it all, give it
Give it what you got
Come on give it all a lot
Pick it up and move it
Give it to the spot
Your mind on a fantasy
Living on ecstasy
Runaway train
(Running right off the track)
Runaway train
(Running right off the track)
Runaway train
(Running right off the track)
Yeah the runaway train
(Running right off the track)
One hard ring a bell
Old SCHOOL rebel
A ten for the revelry
Jamming up the agency
Shake it, shake it
Take it to the spot
You know she made it really hot
Get it on, give it up
Come on give it all you got
Your mind on a fantasy
Living on the ecstasy
Runaway train
(Running right off the track)
Yeah the runaway train yeah
(Running right off the track)
On the runaway train
(Running right off the track)
Runaway train
(Running right off the track)
One hot southern belle
Son of a devil
A SCHOOL boy's spelling bee
A SCHOOL girl with a fantasy
One hard ring a bell
All screwed up
A ten on the revelry
Jamming up the agency
Shake it, take it
Take it to the spot
You know she make it really hot
Give it all, give it up
Come on give it all you got
You know she just like it
Runaway train
(Running right off the track) she's coming off the track
Runaway train
(Running right off the track)
Get it on, get it up
Come on give it all you got
Runaway train
(Running right off the track)
Runaway train
(Running right off the track)

I started a joke which started the WHOLE world crying
But I didn't see that the joke was on me oh no
I started to cry which started the WHOLE world laughing
Oh If I'd only seen that the joke was on me
I looked at the skies running my hands over my eyes
And I fell out of bed hurting my head from things that I said
'Till I finally died which started the WHOLE world living
Oh if I'd only seen that the joke was on me
I looked at the skies running my hands over my eyes
And I fell out of bed hurting my head from things that I said
'Till I finally died which started the WHOLE world living
Oh if I'd only seen that the joke was on me
Oh no that the joke was on me

American girls and American guys
We'll always stand up and salute
We'll always recognize
When we see Old Glory flying
There's a lot of men dead
So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our head
My daddy served in the army
Where he lost his right eye but he flew a flag out in our yard
Until the day that he died
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy
In the land of the free
Now this nation that I love has fallen under attack
A mighty sucker punch came flyin' in from somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly
Through our big black eye
Man, we lit up your world
Like the fourth of July
Hey Uncle Sam, put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty started shakin' her fist
And the eagle will fly man, it's gonna be hell
When you hear mother freedom start ringin' her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you courtesy of the red white and blue
Justice will be served and the battle will rage
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage
And you'll be sorry that you messed with
The U.S. of A.
'Cause we'll put a boot in your ass
It's the American way
Hey uncle sam put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty started shakin' her fist
And the eagle will fly it's gonna be hell
When you hear mother freedom start ringin' her bell
And it feels like the WHOLE wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you courtesy of the red white and blue
Oh oh of the red, white and blue
Oh oh of my red, white and blue

The warden threw a party in the county jail
The prison band was there and they began to wail
The band was jumpin' and the joint began to swing
You should've heard those knocked out jailbirds sing
Let's rock
Everybody, let's rock
Everybody in the WHOLE cell block
Was dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock
Spider Murphy played the tenor saxophone
Little Joe was blowin' on the slide trombone
The drummer boy from Illinois went crash, boom, bang
The whole rhythm section was a purple gang
Let's rock
Everybody, let's rock
Everybody in the WHOLE cell block
Was dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock
Number 47 said to number three
"You're the cutest jailbird I ever did see
I sure would be delighted with your company
Come on and do the Jailhouse Rock with me"
Let's rock
Everybody, let's rock
Everybody in the WHOLE cell block
Was dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock, Rock, Rock
Sad Sack was sittin' on a block of stone
Way over in the corner weepin' all alone
The warden said, "Hey, buddy, don't you be no square
If you can't find a partner, use a wooden chair"
Let's rock
Everybody, let's rock
Everybody in the WHOLE cell block
Was dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock
Shifty Henry said to Bugs, "For Heaven's sake
No one's lookin', now's the chance to make a break"
Bugsy turned to Shifty and he said, "Nix nix
I wanna stick around a while and get my kicks"
Let's rock
Everybody, let's rock
Everybody in the WHOLE cell block
Was dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock
Dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock, dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock
Dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock, dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock

Life is never only one man
One single face shining bright
Life is never only one love
There with you in the night
You don't need much to light the flame
And so little to be burned
Here am I with you all the same
I'm forgetting all I've learned
I will change my WHOLE life
Everything I ought to remember
Will soon be gone
I will change my whole life
If that's what you want
I'll be glad to let you lead me on
I will change all my friends
If that's what you'd like
I'll do anything you want me to
If you really love me
I know I could give it all up
And change my whole life for you
I will change my ideas
And I admit until I'd met you
That I was all wrong
I will change direction
Without a doubt about the road that
I'm going along
If you're there to lead me
If there's a chance
A million to one chance
Now that you'll stay
If you really love me
As crazy as it may seem
I will change my whole life today

Well the South side of Chicago
Is the baddest part of town
And if you go down there
You better just beware
Of a man named Leroy Brown
Now Leroy more than trouble
You see he stand about six foot four
All those downtown ladies call him "Treetop Lover"
All the men just call him "Sir"
And it's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the WHOLE damned town
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog
Now Leroy he a gambler
And he like his fancy clothes
And he like to wave his diamond rings
In front of everybody's nose
He got a custom Continental
He got a Eldorado too
He got a thirty two gun in his pocket for fun
He got a razor in his shoe
And it's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the WHOLE damned town
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog
Well Friday 'bout a week ago
Leroy shootin' dice
And at the edge of the bar
Sat a girl named a Doris
And ooh that girl looked nice
Well he cast his eyes upon her
And the trouble soon began
And Leroy Brown he learned a lesson
'Bout messin' with the wife of a jealous man
And it's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the whole damned town
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog
Well the two men took to fighting
And when they pulled them from the floor
Leroy looked like a jigsaw puzzle
With a couple of pieces gone
And it's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the whole damned town
Badder than old King Kong
Meaner than a junkyard dog
And he's bad, bad Leroy Brown
The baddest man in the WHOLE damned town
Badder than old King Kong
And meaner than a junkyard dog
Yeah, he was badder than old King Kong
Meaner than a junkyard dog
The sky is crying, look at the tears roll down the street
The sky is crying, look at the tears roll down the street
I'm waiting in tears looking for my baby, and I wonder where can she be?
I saw my baby one morning, and she was walking on down the street
I saw my baby one morning, yes she was walking on down the street
Made me feel so good until my poor heart would skip a beat
I got a bad feeling, my baby, my baby don't love me no more
I got a bad feeling, my baby don't love me no more
Now the sky's been crying, the tears rolling down my door
Well, take me back down where cool water flow, y'all
Let me remember things I love, Lord
Stoppin' at the log where catfish bite
Walkin' along the river road at night
Barefoot girls dancin' in the moonlight
I can hear the bullfrog callin' me, aw
Wonder if my rope's still hangin' to the tree, aw
Love to kick my feet way down the shallow water
Shoofly, dragonfly, get back to mother
Pick up a flat rock, SKIP it across Green River
Well!
Up at Cody's camp I spent my days, Lord
With flat car riders and cross-tie walkers
Old Cody Junior took me over
Said, "You're gonna find the world is smoulderin'
And if you get lost come on home to Green River."
Well!

Skip a rope, skip a rope
Oh, listen to the children while they play
Now ain't it kinda funny what the children say
Skip a rope
Daddy hates mommy, mommy hates dad
Last night you should've heard the fight they had
It gave little sister another bad dream
She woke us all up with a terrible scream
Skip a rope, skip a rope
Oh, listen to the children while they play
Now ain't it kinda funny what the children say
Skip a rope
Cheat on your taxes, don't be a fool
Now what was that they said about the golden rule
Never mind the rule, just play to win
And hate your neighbor for the shade of his skin
Skip a rope, skip a rope
Oh, listen to the children while they play
Everybody's talking at me
I don't hear a word they're saying
Only the echoes of my mind
People stopping, staring
I can't see their faces
Only the shadows of their eyes
I'm going where the sun keeps shining
Through the pouring rain
Going where the weather suits my clothes
Banking off of the northeast winds
Sailing on a summer breeze
And SKIPPING over the ocean like a stone
Wah, wah wah-wah wah
Wah-wah wah-wah, wah wah-wah
Wahhh
I'm going where the sun keeps shining
Through the pouring rain
Going where the weather suits my clothes
Banking off of the northeast winds
Sailing on a summer breeze
And SKIPPING over the ocean like a stone
Everybody's talking at me
Can't hear a word they're saying
Only the echoes of my mind
I won't let you leave my love behind
No, I won't let you leave
Wah, wah
I won't let you leave my love behind

Why do fools fall in love?
Why do birds sing so gay
And lovers await the break of day
Why do they fall in love
Why does the rain fall from up above
Why do fools fall in love
Why do they fall in love?
Love is a losing game
Love can be a shame
I know of a fool you see
That fool is me
Why do fools fall in love?
Why do birds sing so gay
And lovers await the break of day
Why do they fall in love
Why does the rain fall from up above
Why do fools fall in love
Why do they fall in love?
Why does my heart SKIP this crazy beat
Because it knows
It will reach defeat
Tell me why, tell me why
Why do fools fall in love?

Heartbeat
Why do you miss when my baby kisses me?
Heartbeat
Why does a love kiss stay in my memory?
Piddly pat
I know that new love thrills me
I know that true love will be
Heartbeat
Why do you miss when my baby kisses me?
Heartbeat
Why do you SKIP when my baby's lips meet mine?
Heartbeat
Why do you flip and give me a skip each sign?
Piddly pat
And sing to me love's story
And bring to me love's glory
Heartbeat
Why do you miss when my baby kisses me?

Have you seen her, so fine and pretty?
Fooled me with her style and ease
And I feel her from across the room
Yes, it's love in the third degree
Ooh, baby, baby
Won't ya turn your head my way
Ooh, baby, baby (a-come on)
Take a chance, you're old enough
To dance the night away
Whoa, come on g-g-girl, dance the night away
A live wire, barely a beginner
But just watch that lady go
She's on fire, 'cause dancin' gets her higher
Than anything else she knows
Ooh, baby, baby
Won't ya turn your head my way
Ooh, baby, baby
Well, don't SKIP romance 'cause you're old enough to
Dance the night away
Whoa-oh-oh, come on g-g-girl, dance the night away
Oh-oh, yeah
Dance the night away (oh, baby)
Dance, dance, dance the night away
Dance, dance, dance the night away (oh, come on baby, baby)
Dance the night away (ooh-ooh, yeah)
Dance, dance, dance the night away
Oh-oh, yeah
Van Morrison, BROWN EYED GIRL
Hey, where did we go?
Days when the rains came
Down in the hollow
Playin' a new game
Laughin' and a-runnin', hey, hey
SKIPPIN' and a-jumpin'
In the misty morning fog with
Our, our hearts a-thumping and you
My brown-eyed girl
And you, my brown-eyed girl
And whatever happened
To Tuesday and so slow?
Going down the old mine with a
Transistor radio
Standing in the sunlight laughing
Hiding 'hind a rainbow's wall
Slipping and sliding
All along the waterfall with you
My brown-eyed girl
You, my brown-eyed girl
Do you remember when we used to sing?
Sha-la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la tee-da
Just like that
Sha-la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la tee-da, la-tee-da
So hard to find my way
Now that I'm all on my own
I saw you just the other day
My, how you have grown
Cast my memory back there, Lord
Sometimes I'm overcome thinking 'bout it
Making love in the green grass
Behind the stadium with you
My brown-eyed girl
You, my brown-eyed girl
Do you remember when we used to sing?
Sha-la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la tee-da
Sha-la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la tee-da
