The other day, I posted something in another thread where I asked members what was the first word that popped into their head when they saw/heard the word "cheap"?
My first response was from
Whoknows and his reply was "perfume". That phrase, cheap perfume, made me instantly think of Journey's DON'T STOP BELIEVING. The post went in a different direction from what I planned but it was so much fun! Example, there were other responses to the word "cheap" that included shoddy, floozy and several more and
huxley999 was able to cite songs with those words in them!
Let's pick a RANDOM word and see if a song comes to mind. My guess is not every word will trigger a song to pop into our heads, but who knows. If you would kindly post a few lines of the song that reflects "the word", the name of the song and the artist and if you like, a YouTube link to the song. PLEASE ATTACH YOUR SONG TO THE PARTICULAR "WORD OF THE DAY".
Let's have some musical fun!

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow
Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you don't let show
Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
If there is a load you have to bear
That you can't carry
I'm right up the road
I'll share your load
If you just call me
So just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on
Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
Lean on me...

I stopped off at the Quicksack
For some beer and cigarettes
The old man took my money
As he stared at my Corvette
He said, I had one just like her son
A nineteen-sixty-three
Till the man down at the
Bank took her from me
Oh, She was hotter than a two-dollar pistol
She was the fastest thing around
Long and lean, every young man's dream
She turned every head in town
She was built and fun to handle, son
I'm glad that you dropped in
She reminds me of the one I loved back then
Then, I handed him my keys and said
Here, take her for a spin
The old man scratched his head, and said
Then he looked at me and grinned
He said son, you just don't understand
It ain't the car I want
It's the brunette in your 'Vette that turns me on
I had one that was hotter than a two-dollar pistol
She was the fastest thing around
Long and lean, every young man's dream
She turned every head in town
She was built and fun to handle, son
I'm glad that you dropped in
She reminds me of the one I loved back then
Lord, she was hotter than a two-dollar pistol
She was the fastest thing around
Long and lean, every young man's dream
She turned every head in town
She was built and fun to handle, son
I'm glad that you dropped in
She reminds me of the one I loved back then
She reminds me of the one I loved back then

You know I need your love
You've got that hold over me
Long as I've got your love
You know that I'll never leave
When I wanted you to share my life
I had no doubt in my mind
And it's been you, woman
Right down the line
I know how much I LEAN on you
Only you can see
The changes that I've been through
Have left a mark on me
You've been as constant as a Northern Star
The brightest light that shines
It's been you, woman
Right down the line
I just want to say this is my way
Of tellin' you everything
I could never say before
Yeah, this is my way of tellin' you
That every day I'm lovin' you so much more
'Cause you believed in me through my darkest night
Put somethin' better inside of me
You brought me into the light
Threw away all those crazy dreams
I put them all behind
And it was you, woman
Right down the line
I just want to say this is my way
Of tellin' you everything
I could never say before
Yeah, this is my way of tellin' you
That every day I'm lovin' you so much more
If I should doubt myself
If I'm losing ground
I won't turn to someone else
They'd only let me down
When I wanted you to share my life
I had no doubt in my mind
And it's been you, woman
Right down the line

McKinley hollered - McKinley squalled
Doctor said McKinley - death is on the wall
Say it to me if you got something to confess
I heard all about it - he was going down slow
Heard it on the wireless radio
From down in the boondocks - way down in Key West
I’m searchin’ for love and inspiration
On that pirate radio station
It’s comin’ out of Luxembourg and Budapest
Radio signal clear as can be
I’m so deep in love I can hardly see
Down in the flatlands - way down in Key West
Key West is the place to be
If you’re lookin’ for immortality
Stay on the road – follow the highway sign
Key West is fine and fair
If you lost your mind, you’ll find it there
Key West is on the horizon line
I was born on the wrong side of the railroad track
Like Ginsberg, Corso and Kerouac
Like Louie and Jimmy and Buddy and all of the rest
It might not be the thing to do
But I’m stickin’ with you through and through
Down in the flatlands - way down in Key West
I got both my feet planted square on the ground
Got my right hand high with the thumb down
Such is life - such is happiness
Hibiscus flowers grow everywhere here
If you wear one put it behind your ear
Down on the bottom - way down in Key West
Key West is the place to go
Down by the Gulf of Mexico
Beyond the sea - beyond the shifting sand
Key West is the gateway key
To innocence and purity
Key West - Key West is the enchanted land
I’ve never lived in the land of Oz
Or wasted my time with an unworthy cause
It’s hot down here and you can’t be overdressed
The tiny blossoms of a toxic plant
They can make you dizzy - I’d like to help ya but I can’t
Down in the flatlands - way down in Key West
The fishtail ponds and the orchid trees
They can give you the bleedin’ heart disease
People tell me - I oughta try a little tenderness
Amelia Street - Bay View Park
Walkin’ in the shadows after dark
Down under - way down in Key West
I play the gumbo limbo spirituals
I know all the Hindu rituals
People tell me that I’m truly blessed
Bougainvillea bloomin’ in the summer and spring
Winter here is an unknown thing
Down the flatlands - way down in Key West
Key West is under the sun
Under the radar - under the gun
You stay to the left and then you LEAN to the right
Feel the sunlight on your skin
And the healing virtues of the wind
Key West - Key West is the land of light
Wherever I travel - wherever I roam
I’m not that far from the convent home
I do what I think is right - what I think is best
Mystery Street off Mallory Square
Truman had his White House there
Eastbound - westbound – way down in Key West
Twelve years old and they put me in a suit
Forced me to marry a prostitute
There were gold fringes on her wedding dress
That’s my story but not where it ends
She’s still cute and we’re still friends
Down in the bottom - way down in Key West
I play both sides against the middle
Pickin’ up that pirate radio signal
I heard the news - I heard your last request
Fly around my Pretty Little Miss
I don’t love nobody - gimme a kiss
Down at the bottom - way down in Key West
Key West is the place to be
If you’re lookin’ for immortality
Key West is paradise divine
Key West is fine and fair
If you lost your mind you’ll find it there
Key West is on the horizon line

Do-do-do, do-do
Do-do-do, do-do-ooh
My LEAN baby, tall and thin
Five feet seven, of bones and skin
But when she tells me maybe she loves me
I feel as mellow as a fellow can be
She's so skinny, she's so drawn
When she stands sideways, you would think that she's gone
But when she calls me, "baby", I feel fine
To think she's frantically, romantically mine
She's slender, but she's tender
She makes my heart surrender
And every night when I hold her tight
The feeling is nice, my arms can go around twice
My lean baby, she's so slim
A broomstick's wider, but not as trim
And when she starts to kiss me, then I know
I love her so, I'll never, ever, let her go, no
My lean baby, strange to see
And all that nothing, it belongs to me
And though she may be scrawny, she's okay
Because I wouldn't want her any other way
And she's so skinny, she's so drawn
When she stands sideways, you would think that she's gone
But when she calls me, "baby", I feel fine
To think she's frantically, romantically mine
I chased her, and I caught her
Then a diamond ring, I bought her
Hey, the diamonds shine, the ring is so fine
But here is the twist, she wears it right on her wrist
My lean baby, she's so slim
A broomstick's wider, but not as trim
And when she starts to kiss me, then I know
I love her so, I'll never, ever, let her go
My lean baby, tall and thin
Do-do-do-do, do-do
Do-do-do, do-do-do, do-do

I need somebody to LEAN on
I need somebody to, to tell my troubles to
No use denying, I'm close to cryin'
But what good, tell me, what good would my crying do?
I need somebody to help me
Help me forget all those worries on my mind
And when I'm lonely, if someone would only
Want to be sweet and kind
I need somebody, won't that somebody
Please, please listen to my plea
Need that somebody, won't that somebody
Come running to me
I need somebody to lean on
I'm tired of being unhappy and so blue
If she came I would hold her
'Cause I need that shoulder to lean on, yes, I really do
I need somebody and baby that somebody is you

Hey man, oh leave me alone you know
Hey man, oh Henry, get off the phone, I gotta
Hey man, I gotta straighten my face
This mellow thighed chick just put my spine out of place
Hey man, my schooldays insane
Hey man, my work's down the drain
Hey man, well she's a total blam-blam
She said she had to squeeze it but she then she
Oh don't LEAN on me man, 'cause you can't afford the ticket
I'm back on Suffragette City
Oh don't LEAN on me man
'Cause you ain't got time to check it
You know my Suffragette City
Is outta sight she's all right
Hey man, oh Henry, don't be unkind, go away
Hey man, I can't take you this time, no way
Hey man, droogie don't crash here
There's only room for one and here she comes, here she comes
Oh don't LEAN on me man, 'cause you can't afford the ticket
I'm back on Suffragette City
Oh don't LEAN on me man
'Cause you ain't got time to check it
You know my Suffragette City
Is outta sight she's all right
Oh hit me
Oh don't LEAN on me man, 'cause you can't afford the ticket
I'm back on Suffragette City
Oh don't LEAN on me man
'Cause you ain't got time to check it
You know my Suffragette City
Oh don't LEAN on me man, 'cause you can't afford the ticket
I'm back on Suffragette City
Don't LEAN on me man "cause you ain't got time to check it
You know my Suffragette City
Is outta sight she's all right
A Suffragette City, a Suffragette City
I'm back on Suffragette City, I'm back on Suffragette City
Ooo, Sufraggete city, ooo, Suffragette City
Oooh-how, Sufragette City, oooh-how, Sufragette City
Ohhh, wham bam thank you ma'am
A Suffragette City, a Suffragette City
Quite all right
A Suffragette City
Too fine
A Suffragette City, ooh, a Sufragette City
Oh, my Sufragette City, oh my Suffragette City
Oh, Suffragette
Suffragette
Well, we all need someone we can LEAN on
And if you want it, you can LEAN on me
Yeah, we all need someone we can LEAN on
And if you want it, you can LEAN on me
She said, "My breasts, they will always be open
Baby, you can rest your weary head right on me
And there will always be a space in my parking lot
When you need a little coke and sympathy"
Yeah, we all need someone we can dream on
And if you want it, baby, well you can dream on me
Yeah, we all need someone we can cream on
And if you want to, well you can cream on me
I was dreaming of a steel guitar engagement
When you drunk my health in scented jasmine tea
But you knifed me in my dirty filthy basement
With that jaded, faded, junky nurse
Oh, what pleasant company, huh
Aw, we all need someone we can feed on
And if you want it, well you can feed on me
Take my arm, take my leg, oh, baby, don't you take my head
Yeah, we all need someone we can bleed on
Yeah, and if you want it, baby, well, you can bleed on me, yeah
We all need someone we can bleed on
Yeah, yeah, and if you want it, baby, why don't ya bleed on me?
All over, ooh!
Ahh, get it on rider, get it on rider, get it on rider
You can bleed all over me
Get it on rider, get it on rider, get it on rider
You can come all over, you can come all over me
Get it on rider, get it on rider, get it on rider
You can come all over me
Get it on rider
You can come all over me

Well, it's one for the money
Two for the show
Three to get ready
Now go, cat, go
But don't you step on my blue suede shoes
You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes
Well, you can knock me down
Step in my face
Slander my name
All over the place
Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh
Honey, lay off of my shoes
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes
You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes
You can burn my house
Steal my car
Drink my liquor
From an old fruit jar
Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh
Honey, lay off of my shoes
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes.
You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes

Carry on my wayward son
For there'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond the illusion
I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too high
Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreamin', I can hear them say
Carry on my wayward son
For there'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune, but I hear the voices say
Carry on my wayward son
For there'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
Carry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for you
Carry on my wayward son
For there'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more

There is nothing that is wrong
In wanting you to stay here with me
I know you've got somewhere to go
But won't you make yourself at home and stay with me?
And don't you ever leave
LAY down, Sally, and rest here in my arms
Don't you think you want someone to talk to?
Lay down, Sally, no need to leave so soon
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you
Sun ain't nearly on the rise
We still got the moon and stars above
Underneath the velvet skies
Love is all that matters, won't you stay with me?
Don't you ever leave
Lay down, Sally, and rest here in my arms
Don't you think you want someone to talk to?
Lay down, Sally, and no need to leave so soon
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you
I long to see the morning light
Colour in your face so dreamily
So don't you go and say goodbye
You can lay your worries down and stay with me
Don't you ever leave
Lay down, Sally, and rest here in my arms
Don't you think you want someone to talk to?
Lay down, Sally, there's no need to leave so soon
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you
Lay down, Sally, and rest here in my arms
Don't you think you want someone to talk to?
Lay down, Sally, there's no need to leave so soon

I was born in the wagon of a travelin' show
My mama used to dance for the money they'd throw
Papa would do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel, sell a couple bottles of Doctor Good
Gypsies, tramps, and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They'd call us gypsies, tramps, and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And LAY their money down
Picked up a boy just south of Mobile
Gave him a ride, filled him with a hot meal
I was sixteen, he was twenty-one
Rode with us to Memphis
And papa woulda shot him if he knew what he'd done
Gypsies, tramps, and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They'd call us gypsies, tramps, and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down
I never had schoolin' but he taught me well
With his smooth southern style
Three months later I'm a gal in trouble
And I haven't seen him for a while, uh-huh
I haven't seen him for a while, uh-huh
She was born in the wagon of a travelin' show
Her mama had to dance for the money they'd throw
Grandpa'd do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel, sell a couple bottles of Doctor Good
Gypsies, tramps, and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They'd call us gypsies, tramps, and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down
Gypsies, tramps, and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They'd call us gypsies, tramps, and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down
Gypsies, tramps, and thieves
Another 'senior moment' sorry.

Drinking beer at the cabaret
And was I having fun
'Til one night she caught me right
And now I'm on the run
LAY that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packing mama
Lay that pistol down
She kicked out my windshield
She hit me over the head
She cussed and cried and said I'd lied
And wished that I was dead
Well, lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packing mama
Lay that pistol down
Drinking beer in the cabaret
And dancing with a blond
'Til one night she shot out the light
Bang, that blond was gone
So lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packing mama
Lay that pistol down
I'll sing you every night, babe
And I'll woo you every day
I'll be your regular daddy
If you'll put that gun away
And just lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packing mama
Lay that pistol down
Drinking beer at the cabaret
And was I having fun
'Til one night she caught me right
And now I'm on the run
Now, lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packing mama
Lay that pistol down
Now, there was old Al Dexter
He always had his fun
But with some lead, she shot him dead
And his honking days are done
Now, lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packing mama
Lay that pistol down
I said, "Lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packing mama"
I said, "Lay that pistol down"
I said, "Lay that pistol down, babe
Lay that pistol down
Pistol packing mama
Lay that pistol down"

Lay down, lay down, lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown
Lay down, lay down, lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown
We were so close, there was no room
We bled inside each other's wounds
We all had caught the same disease
And we all sang the songs of peace
Lay down, lay down, lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown
Lay down, lay down, lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown
So raise the candles high
'Cause if you don't we could stay black against the night
Oh, raise them higher again
And if you do we could stay dry against the rain
Lay down, lay down, lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown
Lay down, lay down, lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown
We were so close, there was no room
We bled inside each other's wounds
We all had caught the same disease
And we all sang the songs of peace
Some came to sing, some came to pray
Some came to keep the dark away
So raise (Raise) the candles high (Up high)
'Cause if you don't we could stay black against the sky
Oh, oh, raise (Raise) them higher again (Up high)
And if you do we could stay dry against the rain
Lay down, lay down, lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown
(You gotta) Lay down, lay down, lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown
(You gotta) Lay down, lay down, lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown
(Oh, you gotta) Lay down, lay down, lay it all down
Let your white birds smile up
At the ones who stand and frown

It's funny how love goes
'Cause I know this will never work out
But honey, how love grows
Even though there's no reason to doubt
This can never be
You keep saying it's wrong
Neither one of us is free
But still I want to hold on
When even a fool would let go
'Cause he knows that there's no use trying
Even a child would say no
When he knows that he'll end up crying
Tell me now, is it worse holdin' you
Even a fool would let go
Our love has no reason
Like the words in a song that don't rhyme
Our love's got no season
I just know that it's there all the time
Maybe just you and me
I can't believe that's wrong
Thinking 'bout you and me
It makes me want to hold on
When even a fool would let go
'Cause he knows that there's no use trying
Even a child would say no
When he knows that he'll end up crying
Tell me now, is it worse holdin' you
Even a fool would let go
So tell me now, is it worse holdin' you

Well, it was all
That I could do to keep from crying'
Sometimes it seemed so useless to remain
But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even called me by my name
You don't have to call me Waylon Jennings
And you don't have to call me Charlie Pride
And you don't have to call me Merle Haggard anymore
Even though you're on my fighting' side
And I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing' in the rain
But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even called me by my name
Well, I've heard my name
A few times in your phone book (hello, hello)
And I've seen it on signs where I've played
But the only time I know
I'll hear "David Allan Coe"
Is when Jesus has his final judgment day
So I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing' in the rain
But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even called me by my name
Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song
And he told me it was the perfect country & western song
I wrote him back a letter and I told him it was not the perfect country & western song
Because he hadn't said anything at all about mama
Or trains, or trucks, or prison, or getting' drunk
Well, he sat down and wrote another verse to the song and he sent it to me
And after reading it I realized that my friend had written the perfect country & western song
And I felt obliged to include it on this album
The last verse goes like this here
Well, I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got run over by a damned old train
And I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing' in the rain, no
But you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even called me
Well, I wonder why you don't call me
Why don't you ever call me by my name

I, I was the lonely one
Wondering what went wrong, why love had gone
And left me lonely
I, I was so confused, feeling like I'd just been used
Then you came to me and my loneliness left me
I used to think I was tied to a heartache
That was the heartbreak, but now that I've found you
EVEN the nights are better
Now that we're here together
Even the nights are better
Since I found you, oh
Even the days are brighter
When someone you love's beside ya
Even the nights are better
Since I found you
You, you knew just what to do
'Cause you had been lonely too
And you showed me how
To ease the pain and
You did more than mend a broken heart
'Cause now you've made a fire start
And I, I can see that you feel the same way
I never dreamed there'd be someone to hold me
Until you told me and now that I've found you
Even the nights are better
Now that we're here together
Even the nights are better
Since I found you, oh
Even the days are brighter
When someone you love's beside ya
Even the nights are better
Since I found you
I never dreamed there'd be someone to hold me
Until you told me and now that I've found you
Even the nights are better
Now that we're here together
Even the nights are better
Since I found you, oh
Even the days are brighter

La la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la
There are times in this life of mine
I think that the sun forgot how to shine
But as long as you're always there
It don't bother me 'cause why should I care
When all I've gotta do
Is run to you
EVEN the bad times are good
Soon as I get to you baby
you just gotta hold me
And even the bad times are good,
Even the bad times are good
Soon as I get to you baby
you just gotta kiss me
And even the bad times are good
La la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la
When the day seems to drag along
And all that I do is workin' out wrong
Still I find that I never cry
As long as I know that you're standing by
Then all I've gotta do
Is run to you
Even the bad times are good ..
I got the call today, I didn't wanna hear
But I knew that it would come
An old true friend of ours was talkin' on the phone
She said you found someone
And I thought of all the bad luck,
And the struggles we went through
And how I lost me and you lost you
What are these voices outside love's open door
Make us throw off our contentment
And beg for something more?
I'm learning to live without you now
But I miss you sometimes
The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I knew, I'm learning again
I've been trying to get down to the Heart of the Matter
But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think it's about forgiveness
Forgiveness
EVEN if, EVEN if you don't love me anymore
These times are so uncertain
There's a yearning undefined
And people filled with rage
We all need a little tenderness
How can love survive in such a graceless age
The trust and self-assurance that lead to happiness
They're the very things we kill, I guess
Pride and competition cannot fill these empty arms
And the work I put between us,
You know it doesn't keep me warm
I'm learning to live without you now
But I miss you, baby
The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I figured out, I have to learn again
I've been trying to get down to the heart of the matter
But everything changes
And my friends seem to scatter
But I think it's about forgiveness
Forgiveness
EVEN if, EVEN if you don't love me anymore
There are people in your life who've come and gone
They let you down, you know they hurt your pride
You better put it all behind you, baby, 'cause life goes on
You keep carrying that anger, it'll eat you up inside, baby
I've been trying to get down to the Heart of the Matter
But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think it's about forgiveness
Forgiveness
EVEN if, EVEN if you don't love me
I've been trying to get down to the Heart of the Matter
Because the flesh will get weak
And the ashes will scatter
So I'm thinking about forgiveness
Forgiveness
EVEN if, EVEN if you don't love me
Forgiveness
Forgiveness
(Baby)
Forgiveness
Forgiveness
Forgiveness
Forgiveness
EVEN if you don't love me anymore
Forgiveness

Freezin'
Rests his head on a pillow made of concrete, again
Oh, feelin'
Maybe he'll see a little better, set of days, ooh yeah
Oh, hand out
Faces that he sees time again ain't that familiar, ooh yeah
Oh, dark grin
He can't help, when he's happy he looks insane, hm yeah
Even flow, thoughts arrive like butterflies
Oh, he don't know, so he chases them away
Oh, someday yet, he'll begin his life again
Life again, life again...
Kneelin'
Looking through the paper though he doesn't know to read, ooh yeah
Oh, prayin'
Now to something that has never showed him anything
Oh, feelin'
Understands the weather of the winter's on its way
Oh, ceilings
Few and far between all the legal halls of shame, hey
Even flow, thoughts arrive like butterflies
Oh, he don't know, so he chases them away
Oh, someday yet, he'll begin his life again
...Ah, whispering hands, gently lead him away
Him away, him away
Yeah!
Woo, ah yeah... fuck it up
Hey man, you got a dollar?
Come on, just some spare change, man, I know you got
Well, God bless you, man, God bless you
Even flow, thoughts arrive like butterflies
Oh, he don't know, so he chases them away
Oh, someday yet, he'll begin his life again
Oh, whispering hands, gently lead him away
Him away, him away, yeah
Woo, ah yeah

Alone at a corner table,
She was watching me watching her.
I was singin' about an old flame burning,
She was hanging on to every word.
I was pouring out my feelings,
She was pouring out the wine.
Through the smoke and the beer,
It was perfectly clear,
That we were touching each others minds.
It was love ten feet away.
Imagine her in my arms, with that look on her face.
Lying somewhere in some shadowy place.
It was love just ten feet away.
I just knew my closing song would do it,
I knew that I was heaven bound.
I could tell she was moved, but before I was through.
This stranger walked up and set down.
He was trying his best to impress her,
But she never took her eyes off me.
When he got up and left, I said to myself...
Woh-o-woh what a night this will be.
It was love ten feet away.
Imagine her in my arms, with that look on her face.
Lying somewhere in some shadowy place.
It was love just ten feet away.
It was love ten feet away.
Imagine her in my arms, with that look on her face.

All night long, you've been looking at me
Well, you know you're the dance hall cutie that you longed to be
Oh well now, you've been laying it down
You've got your hip swinging out of bounds
And I like the way you do what you're doin' to me
Alright, that's right, that's right, that's right
That's right, I really love your tiger light
And that's neat, that's neat, that's neat, that's neat
I really love your tiger FEET, I really love your tiger feet
Your tiger feet
Your tiger feet
Your tiger feet
Well, alright!
Well, flash your warning lights just as long as you like
I know you're aching to be making me tonight
I've got a feeling in my knee, it's a feeling only you can please
There ain't no way I'm gonna let you outta my sight
Alright, that's right, that's right, that's right
That's right, I really love your tiger light

Who's that walkin' round here?
Mercy, sounds like baby patter
Baby elephant patter, that's what I calls it
Say, up in Harlem at a table for two
There were four of us: me, your big feet, and you
From your ankle up, I'll say you sure are sweet
From there down there's just too much feet
Yes, your feet's too big
Don't want you 'cause you feet's too big
Can't use you 'cause you feet's too big
I really hate you 'cause your feet's too big
Where'd you get 'em?
Your girl she likes you, she thinks you're nice
Got what it takes to be in paradise
She said likes your face, she likes your array
Man, oh man, them things are too big
Oh, your feet's too big
Don't want you 'cause you feet's too big
Mad at you 'cause your feet's too big
I hate you 'cause your feet's too big
My Goodness! Gun the gunboats!
Ship, ship, ship!

Your, your pedal extremities really are obnoxious

You to me
Are sweet as roses in the morning
And you to me
Are soft as summer rain at dawn, in love we share
That something rare
The sidewalks in the street
The concrete and the clay beneath my FEET
Begins to crumble
But love will never die
Because we'll see the mountains tumble
Before we say goodbye
My love and I will be
In love eternally
That's the way
Mmm, that's the way it's meant to be
All around
I see the purple shades of evening
And on the ground
The shadows fall and once again you're in my arms
So tenderly
The sidewalks in the street
The concrete and the clay beneath my feet
Begins to crumble
But love will never die
Because we'll see the mountains tumble
Before we say goodbye
My love and I will be
In love eternally
That's the way
Mmm, that's the way it's meant to be

Early in the evenin' just about supper time
Over by the courthouse they're starting to unwind
Four kids on the corner trying to bring you up
Willy picks a tune out and he blows it on the harp
Down on the corner
Out in the street
Willy and the Poor Boys are playin'
Bring a nickel, tap your FEET
Rooster hits the washboard and people just got to smile
Blinky thumps the gut bass and solos for a while
Poor Boy twangs the rhythm out on his kalamazoo
And Willy goes into a dance and doubles on kazoo
Down on the corner
Out in the street
Willy and the Poor Boys are playin'
Bring a nickel, tap your FEET
Down on the corner
Out in the street
Willy and the Poor Boys are playin'
Bring a nickel, tap your FEET
You don't need a penny just to hang around
But if you've got a nickel, won't you lay your money down?
Over on the corner there's a happy noise
People come from all around to watch the magic boy
Down on the corner
Out in the street
Willy and the Poor Boys are playin'
Bring a nickel, tap your FEET
Down on the corner
Out in the street

Line one is the time
That you, you first stayed over at mine
And we drank our first bottle of wine
And we cried
Line two we're away
And we both, we both had nowhere to stay
Well the bus-shelter's always OK
When you're young
Now you're older and I look at your face
Every wrinkle is so easy to place
And I only write them down just in case
That you die
Let's take a look at these crows feet, just look
Sitting on the prettiest eyes
Sixty 25th of Decembers
Fifty-nine 4th of Julys
Not through the age or the failure, children
Not through the hate or despise
Take a good look at these crows FEET
Sitting on the prettiest eyes
Line three I forget
But I think, I think it was our first ever bet
And the horse we backed was short of a leg
Never mind
Line four in a park
And the things, the things that people do in the dark
I could hear the faintest beat of your heart
Then we did
Now you're older and I look at your face
Every wrinkle is so easy to place
And I only write them down just in case
You should die
Lets take a look at these crows feet, just look
Sitting on the prettiest eyes
Sixty 25th of Decembers
Fifty-nine 4th of Julys
You can't have too many good times, children
You can't have too many lines
Take a good look at these crows FEET
Sitting on the prettiest eyes
Well my eyes look like a map of the town
And my teeth are either yellow or they're brown
But you'll never hear the crack of a frown
When you are here
You'll never hear the crack
Of a frown
Your daddy says I'm no good
Your mama says keep away
I got to tell you truthful, girl, you can never make me stay
I got somethin' up and down this road
I'll bet you my last dollar, girl, I could give you love the most
Don't the sunrise look so pretty - never such a sight

Roll right through the night (roll)
Roll right through the night (I said, roll)
Semi-smokin' mama, you got to give me some
I heard you got the biggest, ooo, the biggest truck in town
Ride on through to Baltimore - you got to love me now
Catch it to me gently - feets don't fail me now (don't fail me)
Feets don't fail me now (don't fail me)
Don't the sunrise look so pretty - never such a sight
Like rollin' into New York City with the skyline in the morning light
Roll right through the night (I said, roll)

I want all you skinheads to get up on your FEET
Put your braces together and your boots on your FEET
And give me some of that old moonstomping
Get ready, we got three million miles to reach the moon
So let's start getting happy now
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah
Now, before we reach the moon, fellas
We got to make sure that everthing is spic and span, alright?
We got to make sure you, shine your boots, brush your teeth
Because the man on the moon look different from man on the Earth
That's what I say boys
Now remember, I am your boss skinhead speaking, my name is Caleb
Alright, and remember, I'm the boss
You can see, look at my boot, or my FEET, or whatever you want to call it
And you can see I've got the biggest boots (that's not right)
Now, when I say "sing", I want everyone to get in the groove and start singing
Because we're on the moon
Ready? One time, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah
Now, I want all you fellas to gather around me, and we're gonna start stomping
Ready? Here we go, one time
Now, we want to make sure when we get back on the Earth
We've got the moon on top of us
Now, we want to make sure that everybody is still in the groove when we get back
So let's start singing one more time
Ready?
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah yeah

Love me tender,
love me sweet,
never let me go.
You have made my life complete,
and I love you so.
Love me tender,
love me true,
all my dreams fulfilled.
For my darlin' I love you,
and I always will.
Love me tender,
love me long,
take me to your heart.
For it's there that I belong,
and we'll never part.
Love me tender,
love me dear,
tell me you are mine.
I'll be yours through all the years,
till the end of time.
(When at last my dreams come true
Darling this I know
Happiness will follow you
Everywhere you go).

I can't conceal the TENDER feeling
Now that you are close to me
I look at you with tender feeling
And can't help kiss you tenderly
I offer you a true devotion
All life through my love I vow
For this is real, this sweet emotion
This tender feeling I have now
Somehow I knew from the moment our lips first met
You'd be the girl I could never forget
No other love could be appealing
I loved you right from the start
And with each kiss I'll keep revealing

After work me and the boys
Go down to Killey's and we make some noise
Feed that old jukebox and play some air guitar
Well, and there's nothin wrong with shootin' pool
and having some fun and acting a fool
but this time I won't be going where they are
'Cause
I'm going home and rock my baby
Just thinkin' bout her is making me crazy
all day long i've been dreamin' of holding her tight
Yeah, it's gonna be a sweet surrender
Candlelight and love me tender
I'm going home and rock my baby tonight
The girl sure has been working hard
I think she's ready for some R & R
Something to take her mind off everything
Champagne and a box of candy
A box of roses might come in handy
To help loosen up those apron strings
'Cause
I'm going home and rock my baby
Just thinkin' bout her is making me crazy
all day long I've been dreamin' of holding her tight
Yeah, it's gonna be a sweet surrender
Candlelight and love me tender
I'm going home and rock my baby tonight
If the roses and the candy do the trick
Tommorow I may have to call in sick
'Cause
I'm going home and rock my baby
Just thinkin' bout her is making me crazy
all day long I've been dreamin' of holding her tight
Yeah, it's gonna be a sweet surrender

Don't leave me this way
I can't survive, I can't stay alive
Without your love, oh baby
Don't leave me this way, now
I can't exist, I will surely miss
Your TENDER kiss, don't leave me this way
Oh... baby, my heart is full of love and desire for you
Now, come on down and do what you've got to do
You started this fire down in my soul
Now can't you see it's burning out of control?
Then come on, satisfy the need in me
'Cause only your good loving can set me free
Set me free, set me free
Don't, don't you leave me this way, no
Don't you understand, I'm at your command?
Oh baby, please, please don't leave me this way, no, baby
Don't leave me this way, now
I can't survive, I can't stay alive
Without your love, baby
Don't leave me this way
Oh... baby, my heart is full of love and desire for you
So come on down and do what you've got to do
You started this fire down in my soul
Now can't you see it's burning out of control?
So come on, satisfy the need in me
'Cause only your good loving can set me free
Set me free, set me free
Need your loving, baby, need, need
Need your love right now
Baby, baby, please
Come and satisfy the need in me...
Need your love right now...
Your love is so important to me...
Satisfy the need in me...
Oh baby, come and satisfy the need in me...
Don't leave me this way, no...
Don't leave me this way, baby...
Between the darkness on the street
And the houses filling up with light
Between the stillness in my heart
And the roar of the approaching night
Somebody's calling after somebody
Somebody turns the corner out of sight
Looking for somebody
Somewhere in the night
TENDER is the night
TENDER, when you hold your baby tight
TENDER, TENDER are the motions, TENDER is the night
Between a life that we expected
And the way it's always been
I can't walk back in again
After the way we fight
When just outside there are people laughing
Living lives we used to lead
Chasing down the love they need
Somewhere in the night
TENDER is the night
TENDER, and the benediction of the neon light
TENDER, TENDER are the hunters, TENDER is the night
You're gonna want me tonight
When you're ready to surrender
Forget about who's right
When you're ready to remember
It's another world at night
When you're ready to be TENDER
TENDER, TENDER TENDER
TENDER, TENDER TENDER
TENDER
And in the hard light of an angry sun
No one remembers what was said or done
TENDER are the words they choose
You win, I win, we lose
TENDER
TENDER is the night
TENDER
The benediction of the neon light
TENDER
TENDER are the hunters
TENDER is the night
When they hold each other tight
TENDER
TENDER are the undercover
TENDER
The stranger and the secret lover
TENDER
TENDER are the motions
TENDER is the night
When you hold your baby tight
TENDER, TENDER, TENDER
TENDER, TENDER, TENDER

Try to remember the kind of September,
When life was slow and oh so mellow.
Try to remember the kind of September,
When grass was green and grain was yellow.
Try to remember the kind of September,
When you were an TENDER and callow fellow.
Try to remember, and if you remember,
Then follow (follow) follow (follow) follow...
Try to remember when life was so tender,
That no one wept except the willow,
Try to remember when life was so tender,
That dreams were kept beside your pillow.
Try to remember when life was so tender,
That love was an ember about to billow,
Try to remember, and if you remember,
Then follow (follow) follow...
(Follow...deep in December it's nice to remember,
Although you know the snow will follow.
Deep in December it's nice to remember,
Without a hurt the heart is hollow.)
Deep in December it's nice to remember,
The fire of September that made us mellow.
Deep in December our heart's should remember,
And follow (follow) follow (follow) follow...

The evening breeze caressed the trees tenderly
The trembling trees embraced the breeze tenderly
Then you and I came wandering by
And lost in a sigh were we
The shore was kissed by sea and mist tenderly
I can't forget how two hearts met breathlessly
Your arms opened wide and closed me inside
You took my lips, you took my love so tenderly
Your arms opened wide and closed me inside
You took my lips
You took my love
So tenderly

Even though I'm in love
Sometimes, I get so afraid
I'll say something so wrong
Just to have something to say
I know the moment isn't right
To tell the girl a comical line
To keep the conversation light
I guess I'm just frightened out of my mind
But if that's how I feel
Then, it's the best feeling I've ever known
It's undeniably real
Leave a TENDER moment alone
Yes, I know I'm in love
But just when I ought to relax
I put my foot in my mouth
'Cause I'm just avoiding the facts
If the girl gets too close
If I need some room to escape
When the moment arose
I'd tell her, it's all a mistake
But that's not how I feel
No, that's not the woman I've known
She's undeniably real
So, leave a TENDER moment alone
But it's not only me
Breaking down when the tension gets high
Just when I'm in a serious mood
She is suddenly quiet and shy
Hmm, mmm-
Leave a TENDER moment alone (leave a TENDER moment)
Leave it alone (leave a TENDER moment alone)
I know the moment isn't right
To hold my emotions inside
To change the attitude tonight
I've run out of places to hide
And if that's how I feel
Then, it's the best feeling I've even known
It's undeniably real
Oh, leave a TENDER moment alone
Ahh-ahh, ahh-ah (leave a TENDER moment alone)
Leave a TENDER moment alone, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Leave a TENDER moment alone
Leave a TENDER moment
Leave it alone, oh, oh, oh, oh
Leave a TENDER moment alone

Come all ye fair and tender ladies
Take warning how you court young men
They're like a star on a summer morning
They first appear and then they're gone.
They'll tell to you some loving story
And they'll make you think that they love you well
Then away they'll go and court some other
And leave you there in grief to dwell.
I wish I was on some tall mountain
Where the ivy rocks are black as ink
I'd write a letter to my false true lover
Whose cheeks are like the morning pink.
Oh love is handsome love is charming
And love is pretty while it's new
But love grows cold as love grows old
And fades away like morning dew.
And fades away like morning dew...
Sell the kids for food
Weather changes moods
Spring is here again

Likes to sing along and he likes to shoot his gun, but he
Knows not what it means
Knows not what it means, and I say
He's the one who likes all our pretty songs, and he
Likes to sing along and he likes to shoot his gun, but he
Knows not what it means
Knows not what it means, and I say, "Yeah"
We can have some more
Nature is a whore
Bruises on the fruit
TENDER age in bloom
He's the one who likes all our pretty songs, and he
Likes to sing along and he likes to shoot his gun, but he
Knows not what it means
Knows not what it means, and I say

The Queen of Light took her bow
And then she turned to go
The Prince of Peace embraced the gloom
And walked the night alone
Oh, dance in the dark of night
Sing to the morning light
The dark Lord rides in force tonight
And time will tell us all
Oh, throw down your plow and hoe
Rest not to lock your homes
Side by side we wait the might of the darkest of them all
Oh-oh
I hear the horses' thunder down in the valley below
I'm waiting for the angels of Avalon
Waiting for the eastern glow
The apples of the valley hold the seeds of happiness
The ground is rich from TENDER care
Repay, do not forget, no, no
Dance in the dark of night
Sing to the morning light
The apples turn to brown and black
The tyrant's face is red
Oh, war is the common cry
Pick up your swords and fly
The sky is filled with good and bad
Mortals never know, oh
Oh, well, the night is long, the beads of time pass slow
Tired eyes on the sunrise
Waiting for the eastern glow
The pain of war cannot exceed
The woe of aftermath
The drums will shake the castle wall
The ring wraiths ride in black, ride on
Sing as you raise your bow (Ride on)
Shoot straighter than before
No comfort has the fire at night
That lights the face so cold
Oh, dance in the dark of night
Sing to the morning light
The magic runes are writ in gold
To bring the balance back
Bring it back
At last the sun is shining
The clouds of blue roll by
With flames from the dragon of darkness
The sunlight blinds his eyes!
Ahhhhh
Ahhhhhhhhhh
Bring it back, bring it back
Bring it back, bring it back
Bring it back, bring it back
Bring it back, bring it back
Oh now, oh now, oh now, oh
Oh now, oh now, oh now
Bring it back, bring it back
Bring it back, bring it back
Ooh now, oh now, oh now, oh
Oh now, oh now, oh now
Bring it, bring it, bring it, bring it
Bring it, bring it, bring it, bring it
Bring it, bring it, bring it, bring it
