Did you see the graphs? Our countries have developed their economy at about the same pace, to on average the same GDP/capita. Only after 2014, the growth in my country went down and then up again, while your growth continued.

In what perspective would you want to put it?
Since 2008, our economy didn't do so well. If we put this in a political perspective, that is the period that my country was controlled by right-wing policies, making life more expensive for the working class.

In 2006 the public healthcare system was privatized, but the initial costs of the health insurance was still low, at $98/month with a no- claim. In 2008, the premium was raised to $106/month and the no-claim was changed to a $167 deductible. This was raised to $245 in 2012, $390 in 2013, and to $430 in 2016. The base premium is now $177/month.

In 2008, the full corporate income tax liability was introduced for housing associations, making rent more expensive. In 2013, the social housing levy was introduced, increasing rent again. In 2015, the right-wing government sold social housing to foreign private investors for ridiculously low prices.

House prices were rising fast since 1996, but in the period 1999 till 2011, the total housing debt of all households tripled. The average house price went up from $250,000 in 2012 to $510,000 in 2022.

Meanwhile, the gross modal income hardly went up between 2008 and 2020. Corrected for inflation, it went down.

This resulted in the working class having less money to spend, after paying for their fixed expenses, which harms the economy.
