The other day, I posted something in another thread where I asked members what was the first word that popped into their head when they saw/heard the word "cheap"?
My first response was from
Whoknows and his reply was "perfume". That phrase, cheap perfume, made me instantly think of Journey's DON'T STOP BELIEVING. The post went in a different direction from what I planned but it was so much fun! Example, there were other responses to the word "cheap" that included shoddy, floozy and several more and
huxley999 was able to cite songs with those words in them!
Let's pick a RANDOM word and see if a song comes to mind. My guess is not every word will trigger a song to pop into our heads, but who knows. If you would kindly post a few lines of the song that reflects "the word", the name of the song and the artist and if you like, a YouTube link to the song. PLEASE ATTACH YOUR SONG TO THE PARTICULAR "WORD OF THE DAY".
Let's have some musical fun!

Right now, he's probably slow dancing
With a bleached-blond tramp
And she's probably getting frisky
Right now, he's probably buying
Her some fruity little drink
'Cause she can't shoot whiskey
Right now, he's probably up behind her
With a pool-stick
Showing her how to shoot a combo
And he don't know
I dug my key into the side
Of his pretty little souped-up four-wheel drive
Carved my name into his leather seats
I took a Louisville slugger to both head lights
I slashed a hole in all four tires
Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats
Right now, she's probably up singing some
White-trash version of Shania karaoke
Right now, she's probably saying "I'm drunk"
And he's a-thinking that he's gonna get lucky
Right now, he's probably
Dabbing on three dollars
Worth of that bathroom Polo
Oh, and he don't know
That I dug my key into the side
Of his pretty little souped-up four-wheel drive
Carved my name into his leather seats
I took a Louisville slugger to both head lights
I slashed a hole in all four tires
Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats
I might have saved a little trouble for the next girl
'Cause the next time that he cheats
Oh, you know it won't be on me!
No, not on me
'Cause I dug my key into the side
Of his pretty little souped-up four-wheel drive
Carved my name into his leather seats
I took a Louisville slugger to both head lights
I slashed a hole in all four tires
Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats
Oh, maybe next time he'll think before he cheats
Oh, before he cheats
Oh

Think I'll go out to Alberta
Weather's good there in the fall
I got some friends that I could go to working for
Still, I wish you'd change your mind
If I ask you one more time
But we've been through this a hundred times or more
FOUR strong winds that blow lonely
Seven seas that run high
All those things that don't change, come what may
If the good times are all gone
Then I'm bound for moving on
I'll look for you if I'm ever back this way
If I get there before the snow flies
And if things are looking good
You could meet me if I send you down the fare
But by then it would be winter
Not too much for you to do
And those winds sure can blow cold way out there
Four strong winds that blow lonely
Seven seas that run high
All those things that don't change, come what may
The good times are all gone
So I'm bound for moving on
I'll look for you if I'm ever back this way
Still, I wish you'd change your mind
If I ask you one more time
But we've been through that a hundred times or more
Four strong winds that blow lonely
Seven seas that run high
All those things that don't change, come what may

I'll look for you if I'm ever back this way
Searching for the break of day
Searching for something to say
Dancing lights against the sky
Giving up, I close my eyes
Sitting cross-legged on the floor
25 or six to FOUR
Staring blindly into space
Getting up to splash my face
Wanting just to stay awake
Wondering how much I can take
Should have tried to do some more
25 or six to FOUR
Feeling like I ought to sleep
Spinning room is sinking deep
Searching for something to say
Waiting for the break of day
25 or six to FOUR

Sally called when she got the word
She said: "I suppose you've heard -
About Alice"
Well I rushed to the window
And I looked outside
But I could hardly believe my eyes -
As a big limousine rolled up
Into Alice's drive
Oh, I don't know why she's leaving
Or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons
But I just don't want to know
'Cos for twenty- FOUR years
I've been living next door to Alice
Alice, who the fuck is Alice?
Twenty-four years just waiting for a chance
To tell her how I'm feeling, maybe get a second glance
Now I've got to get used to not living next door to Alice
Alice, who the fuck is Alice?
Grew up together
Two kids in the park
Carved our initials
Deep in the bark
Me and Alice

With her head held high
Just for a moment, I caught her eye
As a big limousine pulled slowly
Out of Alice's drive
Oh, I don't know why she's leaving
Or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons
But I just don't want to know
'Cos for twenty-four years
I've been living next door to Alice

Alice, who the fuck is Alice?
Sally called back, asked how I felt
She said: "I know how to help get over Alice"
She said: "Now Alice is gone
But I'm still here
You know I've been waiting
For twenty-four years"
And the big limousine disappeared
I don't know why she's leaving
Or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons
But I just don't want to know

Well, I'm runnin' down the road tryna loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind
FOUR that wanna own me, two that wanna stone me
One says she's a friend of mine
Take it easy
Take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
And take it easy
Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby
Don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win
Though we will never be here again
So open up, I'm climbin' in
So take it easy
Well, I'm runnin' down the road tryna loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover
She's so hard to find
Take it easy
Take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on, baby
Don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
Oh, we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

One man come in the name of love
One man come and go
One man come he to justify
One man to overthrow
In the name of love
What more in the name of love?
In the name of love
What more in the name of love?
One man caught on a barbed wire fence
One man he resist
One man washed up on an empty beach
One man betrayed with a kiss
In the name of love
What more in the name of love?
In the name of love
What more in the name of love?
Nothing like love
There's nothing like love
Nobody like you
There's nobody like you

They could not take your pride

You knew that I was coming 'cause you heard my name
But you don't know my game and never felt my pain
Can't read my brain but you read my lips
And got scared when you heard that I was coming with hits
Now don't even trip, be a man instead
Give thanks I'm alive when I should be dead
Uh, I'm in the red cause my mind's distortin'
People claimin' that they know me, but they only know a portion
I'ma move mountains and touch the sun
Don't get scared now, you knew this day would come
So hold your bids, all bets are closed
And f*ck all you hoes
'Cause it's been a long time comin' but I finally broke
Like an egg yolk, I ain't no joke
Like some uncut dope motherfucker, Kid Rock's to blame
Same game, same name, ain't a damn thing changed
No sell-out, I ain't no ho, f*ck the radio, comin' from the R-O-M-E-O
Watch me throw like a fist of rage
Self-made and paid and sold off twelve gauges
Up that ass for the nine-eight, nine-eight
Never fake, shake, straight from the Great Lakes
Seven years on wax comin' correct
Flat-out, you diss me punk, that's when I pull the strap out
And I get to buck-buck-bucking, I'm f*ck-f*ck-fucking your hoes
Cause they know who's runnin' this shit, Top-Dog I'm the CEO
Role model, your mother-fucking H-E-R-O
My motto, "be cool, keep pimpin'"
Don't sleep, we roll deep in a Lincoln
Four Vogues on a hundred spokes
We bust Biltmore Beavers in Top Dog coats
We float like butterflies, sting like queen bees
Strapped with AKs straight from the Chinese
What the f*ck's goin' on in the D
Bunch of white boys pimpin' like the K-I-D
And it's all good, I got love for my honkeys
We roll thick, kick ass like donkeys
Anybody fucks with you and I'm gonna mack 'em
Devil without a cause, I'm going platinum
I'm going platinum, I'm going platinum
I'm going platinum, devil without a cause, I'm going platinum
Yeah, we come to party, so get down everybody (come on)
Yeah, we come to party
I went from St. Claire shores and drink specials at Winners
To New York City and seven hundred-dollar dinners
From hangin' with sinners and secondhand cheap sex
To gettin' much respect from top record execs
The cool Kid's claimin' up to call you out
So shut up now or put my balls in your mouth
Bet that ass, hoss, I ain't forgot
When I was tossed in the dime bin and left to rot
Used to call me funny when my nose was fucking runny
Now my fuckin' bunnies gettin' fuckin' Matchbox 20 money
Motherfuckers want to claim they're down
But when I was broke and down I never seen 'em around
All the shit we talked, all the shit we dreamed
I did it without you, I got a brand new team
No triple beams, it seems like a movie
Bought two cribs, drop-top, and jacuzzi
No more floozies, only high-class hoes
A couple when it rains and a few when it snows
A brand new nose to go along with my habit
And a garden hose made out of twenty-four karat
Bought a couple parots that like to squak
And they sound like you and all the shit you talk
Step inside my shoes, you couldn't fill em' doc
You're too old to kid, too soft to rock
I already did what most love to shout
Seven years on wax and I still ain't sold out
And there ain't no doubt in my mind
That I'm gonna STOMP all over your test of time
I'm going platinum, I'm going platinum
Oh, I'm going platinum, we're going platinum
Devil without a cause, I'm going platinum
Devil, devil, devil, devil
Straight out of the streets of Taylor
Three-foot high, ready to get fly
Joe C
I'm the J-O-E to the C, ho
Call me Joe C, got more game than Coleco
I'm a freak, ho, call me sick
Three-foot-nine with a ten-foot dick
The ladies' pick, I'm a crazy hick
And rake through kind like a bum through wine
It's my time so I'm gonna shine like glass
Old as piss, but small as ass
Watch me cash, smoke some hash
You're raking grass while I'm raking cash
High-ass voice, like Aaron Neville
And I'm down with The Devil
Say we like to party, rock the party
(We like to party, rock the party)
We like to party, rock the party
(We like to party, rock the party)
You like to party, rock the party
(We like to party, rock the party)
You like to party, rock the party
Devil without a cause, I'm going platinum

Hey baby won't you take a chance?
Say that you'll let me have this dance
Well let's dance, well let's dance
We'll do the twist, the STOMP, the mashed potato too,
Any old dance that you wanna do
But let's dance, well let's dance
Hey baby, yeah, you thrill me so
Hold me tight, don't you let me go
But let's dance, well let's dance
We'll do the twist, the stomp, the mashed potato too
Any old dance that you wanna do
But let's dance, well let's dance
Ok, wail now
Oh, yeah
Hey, baby, if you're all alone
Maybe you'll let me walk you home
But let's dance, well let's dance
We'll do the twist, the stomp, the mashed potato too,
Any old dance that you wanna do
But let's dance, well let's dance
Hey, baby, things are swingin' right
Yes, I know that this is the night
Well let's dance, well let's dance
We'll do the twist, the stomp, the mashed potato too
Any old dance that you wanna do
But let's dance, well let's dance
But let's dance
But let's dance
But let's dance

Thank God for the weekend
Now is the time
For feeling alright
Come and taste the spice of life
Tonight nothing matters
Come and feel the groove
Let it into you
You know what you've gotta do
Every Friday when my work is done now
I get my party on
I call a few friends of mine
Make sure I'm looking fine
I know we're gonna have a real good time, yeah
Everybody clap your hands
Get up and dance
We're gonna STOMP all night now
Everybody move your feet
Get up and feel the beat
We're gonna stomp all night now
All I need is the music
To get me high
Feeling so alive
Leaving all my cares behind
Keep doing your own thing
And I'll keep doing mine
Dancing through the night
This where I feel alright
Every Friday when my work is done now
I get my party on
I call a few friends of mine
Make sure I'm looking fine
I know we're gonna have a real good time, yeah
Everybody clap your hands
Get up and dance
We're gonna stomp all night now
Everybody move your feet
Get up and feel the beat
We're gonna stomp all night now
Thank God for the weekend
'cause now is the time
All I need is the music
To get me high
Everybody, everybody
We're gonna, we're gonna
Stomp all night now
Everybody clap your hands and get up and dance
We're gonna stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp all night now!
Turn it up until it bangs your head
Tear it down now mother don't play dead
People stand the noise
All the little toys
Put some more coke on the fire
STOMP your hands
Clap your feet
STOMP your hands
To the beat
STOMP your hands
Clap your feet
STOMP your hands
To the beat
Mixed up kids lookin' for that night
They're getting higher everything in sight, well alright
The music's pretty loud
Someone in the crowd
Think they're gonna cause us a riot

Been a whole lot easier since the bitch left town
Been a whole lot happier without that face around
Nobody upstairs gonna STOMP and shout
Nobody out the back door gonna throw my laundry out
She holds the shotgun while you dote-se-doe
She want one man made of Hercules and Cyrano
Been a whole lot easier since the bitch is gone

The tears I cried for you could fill an ocean
But you don't care how many tears I cry
And though you only lead me on and hurt me
I couldn't bring myself to say goodbye
'Cause everybody's SOMEBODY'S fool
Everybody's somebody's baby
And there are no exceptions to the rule
Yes, everybody's somebody's fool
I told myself it's best that I forget you
Though I'm a fool, at least I know the score
Yet darlin', I'd be twice as blue without you
It hurts, but I'd come running back for more
'Cause everybody's somebody's fool
Everybody's somebody's baby
And there are no exceptions to the rule
Yes, everybody's somebody's fool
Someday you'll find someone you really care for
And if her love should prove to be untrue
You'll know how much this heart of my is breakin'
You'll cry for her the way I cried for you
Yes, everybody's somebody's fool
Everybody's somebody's baby
And there are no exceptions to the rule
Yes, everybody's somebody's fool

When the truth is found to be lies
And all the joy within you dies
Don't you want SOMEBODY to love, don't you
Need somebody to love, wouldn't you
Love somebody to love, you better
Find somebody to love
When the garden flowers baby are dead, yes and
Your mind, your mind is so full of red
Don't you want somebody to love, don't you
Need somebody to love, wouldn't you
Love somebody to love, you better
Find somebody to love
Your eyes, I say your eyes may look like his
Yeah, but in your head, baby, I'm afraid you don't know where it is
Don't you want somebody to love, don't you
Need somebody to love, wouldn't you
Love somebody to love, you better
Find somebody to love
Tears are running down and down and down your breast
And your friends, baby they treat you like a guest
Don't you want somebody to love, don't you
Need somebody to love, wouldn't you

Can anybody find me
Somebody to love?
Ooh, each morning I get up I die a little
Can barely stand on my feet
Take a look at yourself in the mirror and cry
Take a look in the mirror and cry
Lord, what you're doing to me? (Yeah, yeah)
I have spent all my years in believing you
But I just can't get no relief, Lord
SOMEBODY (Somebody)
Ooh, somebody (Somebody)
Can anybody find me
Somebody to love?
Yeah
I work hard (He works hard) every day of my life
I work 'til I ache my bones
At the end (At the end of the day) I take home (takes home)
My hard-earned pay all on my own
(Goes home, goes home on his own)
I go down (down) on my knees (knees)
And I start to pray (praise the Lord)
'Til the tears run down from my eyes
Lord, somebody (somebody), somebody (please)
Can anybody find me somebody to love?
(he works hard) everyday (everyday)
I try, and I try, and I try
But everybody wants to put me down
They say I'm going crazy
They say I got a lot of water in my brain
I got no common sense (he's got)
I got nobody left to believe in
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh, Lord
Somebody (somebody), somebody (somebody)
Can anybody find me somebody to love?
(Can anybody find me someone to love)
Got no feel, I got no rhythm
I just keep losing my beat (you just keep losing and losing)
I'm OK, I'm alright (he's alright, he's alright)
I ain't gonna face no defeat (Yeah, yeah)
I just gotta get out of this prison cell
One day (someday) I'm gonna be free, Lord!
(Find me somebody to love)
(Find me somebody to love)
(Find me somebody to love)
(Find me somebody to love)
Find me, find me

I'm going under and this time I fear there's no one to save me
This all or nothing really got a way of driving me crazy
I need SOMEBODY to heal
SOMEBODY to know
SOMEBODY to have
SOMEBODY to hold
It's easy to say
But it's never the same
I guess I kinda liked the way you numbed all the pain
Now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you're not here
To get me through it all
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved
I'm going under and this time I fear there's no one to turn to
This all or nothing way of loving got me sleeping without you
Now, I need SOMEBODY to know
SOMEBODY to heal
SOMEBODY to have
Just to know how it feels
It's easy to say
But it's never the same
I guess I kinda liked the way you helped me escape
Now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you're not here
To get me through it all
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved
And I tend to close my eyes when it hurts sometimes
I fall into your arms
I'll be safe in your sound til I come back around
For now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you're not here
To get me through it all
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved
But now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you're not here
To get me through it all
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved

I need SOMEBODY
(Help) not just anybody
(Help) you know I need someone
(Help)
When I was a younger, so much younger than today
(I never need) I never needed anybody's help in any way
(Now) but now these days are gone (these days are gone)
I'm not so self assured (and now I find)
Now I find I've changed my mind
And opened up the doors
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me
and now my life has change in, oh so many ways
(My independence) my independence seems to vanish in the haze
(But) but every now and then, I feel so insecure
(I know that I) I know that I just need you like
I've never done before
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being 'round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me
When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way
(Now) but now these days are gone
I'm not so self assured (and now I find)

And opened up the doors
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down

We do sincerely hope you'll all enjoy the show, and please remember people, that no matter who you are, and what you do to live, thrive and survive, there are still some things that make us all the same. You, me, them, everybody, everybody.
Everybody needs somebody
Everybody needs somebody to love (someone to love)
Sweetheart to miss (sweetheart to miss)
Sugar to kiss (sugar to kiss)
I need you you you
I need you you you
I need you you you In the morning
I need you you you When my soul's on fire
Sometimes I feel
I feel a little sad inside
When my baby mistreats me
I never never never have a place to hide
I need you
Sometimes I feel
I feel a little sad inside
When my baby mistreats me
I never never never have a place to hide
I need you you you
I need you you you
I need you you you
I need you you you
I need you
You know people when you do find that somebody
Hold that woman, hold that man
Love him, please him, squeeze her, please her,
Hold, squeeze and please that person, give 'em all your love
Signify your feelings with every gentle caress
Because it's so important to have that special somebody
to hold, kiss, miss, squeeze and please
Everybody needs somebody
Everybody needs somebody to love
Someone to love
Sweetheart to miss
Sugar to kiss
I need you you you
I need you you you
I need you you you...
On the version that appeared on the 'Best of the Blues Brothers' album, Elwood starts with another intro:
We're so glad to see so many of you lovely people here tonight, and we would especially like to welcome all the representatives of the California Highway Patrol, who are waiting for me and Jake after the show. We sincerely hope that you all will enjoy the show, and please remember people, that no matter who you are, and what you do to live, thrive and survive, there are things that make all of us the same. You, me, my brother Jake, Wilson Picket, Solomon Burke, everybody people, everybody.

Roxanne you don't have to put on the red light
Those days are over you don't have to SELL your body to the night
Roxanne you don't have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets for money you don't care if it's wrong or if it's right
Roxanne You don't have to put on the red light

I was born in the wagon of a travelling show
My mama used to dance for the money they'd throw
Papa would do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel
SELL a couple bottles of Doctor Good
Gypsies, tramps, and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They'd call us gypsies, tramps, and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down
Picked up a boy just south of Mobile
Gave him a ride, filled him with a hot meal
I was 16, he was 21
Rode with us to Memphis
And papa woulda shot him if he knew what he'd done
Gypsies, tramps, and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They'd call us gypsies, tramps, and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down
I never had schoolin' but he taught me well
With his smooth southern style
Three months later, I'm a gal in trouble
And I haven't seen him for a while, uh-huh
I haven't seen him for a while, uh-huh
She was born in the wagon of a travellin' show
Her mama had to dance for the money they'd throw
Grandpa'd do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel
Sell a couple bottles of Doctor Good
Gypsies, tramps, and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They'd call us gypsies, tramps, and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down
Gypsies, tramps, and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They'd call us gypsies, tramps, and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down
Gypsys, tramps, and thieves

From a phone booth in Vegas Jessie calls at 5 a.m.
To tell me how she's tired of all of them
She says, "Baby, I've been thinking about a trailer by the sea
We could go to Mexico; you, the cat and me
We'll drink tequila and look for seashells
Now doesn't that sound sweet"
Oh Jessie you always do this every time I get back on my feet
Jessie paint your pictures
About how it's gonna be
By now I should know better
Your dreams are never free
But tell me all about our little trailer by the sea
Oh Jessie you can always SELL any dream to me
Oh Jessie you can always sell any dream to me
She asked me how the cat's been
I say "Moses, he's just fine"
But he used to think about you, all the time
We finally took your pictures down off the wall
Jessie, how do you always seem to know just when to call
She says "Get your stuff together, bring Moses and drive real fast"
And I listened to her promise
"I swear to God this time it's gonna last"
Jessie paint your pictures
About how it's gonna be
By now I should know better
Your dreams are never free
But tell me all about our little trailer by the sea
Oh Jessie you can always sell any dream to me
Oh Jessie you can always sell any dream to me
Oh Jessie you can always sell any dream to me
I'll love you in the sunshine
Lay you down in the warm, white sand
And who knows maybe this time
Things will turn out just the way you planned
Jessie paint your pictures
About how it's gonna be
By now I should know better
Your dreams are never free
But tell me all about our little trailer by the sea
Oh Jessie you can always sell any dream to me
Oh Jessie you can always sell any dream to me

The only two things in life that make it worth livin'
Is guitars that tune good and firm feelin' women
I don't need my name in the marquee lights
I got my song and I got you with me tonight
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love
Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
With Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin'
Got us feuding like the Hatfields and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs and
Newberry's train songs and Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain
Out in Luckenbach, Texas ain't nobody feelin' no pain
So baby, let's SELL your diamond ring
Buy some boots and faded jeans and go away
This coat and tie is choking me
In your high society you cry all day
We've been so busy keepin' up with the Jones
Four car garage and we're still building on
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love
Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
With Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin' got us feudin'
Like the Hatfield and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs and

Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
Willie and Waylon and the boys
This successful life we're livin's got us feudin'
Like the Hatfield and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs
And Jerry Jeff's train songs and Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain
Out in Luckenbach, Texas there ain't nobody feelin' no pain

It's impossible to tell the sun to leave the sky
It's just impossible
It's impossible to ask a baby not to cry
It's just impossible
Can I hold you closer to me
And not feel you going through me?
But the second that I never think of you
Oh, how impossible
Can the ocean keep from rushing to the shore?
It's just impossible
If I had you could I ever ask for more?
It's just impossible
And tomorrow, should you ask me for the world
Somehow I'd get it, I would SELL my very soul
And not regret it for to live without your love
Is just impossible
Can the ocean keep from rushing to the shore?
It's just impossible
If I had you could I ever ask for more?
It's just impossible
And tomorrow, should you ask me for the world
Somehow I'd get it, I would sell my very soul
And not regret it for to live without your love

I see fingers, hands and shades of faces
Reachin' up and not quite touchin' the promised land
I hear pleas and prayers and a desperate whisper sayin'
Oh, Lord, please give us a helpin' hand
Yeah yeah
Way down in the background
I can see frustrated souls of cities burnin'
And all across the water, baby
I see weapons barkin' out the sting of death
And up in the clouds I can imagine UFOs jumpin' themselves
Laughin' they sayin'
Those people so uptight, they sure know how to make a mess
Back in the saloon my tears mix and mildew with my drink
I can't really tell my feet from the sawdust on the floor
But as far as I know, they may even try
To wrap me up in cellophane and try and SELL me
Brother SELL me, and don't worry about lookin' at the score
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Harmful elements in the air
Symbols clashing everywhere
Reaps the fields of rice and reeds
While the population feeds
Junk floats on polluted water
An old custom to sell your daughter
Would you like number twenty three?
Leave your yens on the counter please
Ho-oh, ho-oh-oh-oh
Hong Kong Garden
Ho-oh, ho-oh-oh-oh
Hong Kong Garden
Oh oh, oh oh
Tourists swarm to see your face
Confucius has a puzzling grace
Disoriented you enter in
Unleashing scent of wild jasmine
Slanted eyes meet a new sunrise
A race of bodies small in size
Chicken Chow Mein and Chop Suey
Hong Kong Garden takeaway
La la la, la la la la la

Guess who just got back today
Them wild-eyed boys that had been away
Haven't changed, had much to say
But man, I still think them cats are crazy
They were askin' if you were around
How you was, where you could be found
Told them you were livin' downtown
Drivin' all the old men crazy
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
I said, the boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
You know that chick that used to dance a lot
Every night, she'd be on the floor, shakin' what she'd got
Man, when I tell you she was cool, she was red hot
I mean, she was steamin'
And that time over at Johnny's place
Well, this chick got up and she slapped Johnny's face
Man, we just fell about the place
If that chick don't want to know, forget her
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
I said, the boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
Spread the word around
Guess who's back in town?
You spread the word around
Friday night, they'll be dressed to kill
Down at Dino's Bar 'n' Grill
The drink will flow and BLOOD will spill
And if the boys want to fight, you better let 'em
That jukebox in the corner blastin' out my favorite song
The nights are getting warmer, it won't be long
Won't be long 'til the summer comes
Now that the boys are here again
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
(The boys are back, the boys are back)
The boys are back in town again
Been hangin' down at Dino's
The boys are back in town again

Well, my daddy left home when I was three
Didn't leave very much to my mom and me
Except this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze
Now I don't blame him 'cause he run and hid
But the meanest thing that my daddy ever did
Was before he left, he went and named me Sue
Well, he must've thought that it was quite a joke
And I got a lot of laughs from a lots of folk
Seems I had to fight my whole life through
Some gal would giggle and I'd turn red
And some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head
I tell you, life ain't easy for a boy named Sue
But I grew up quick and I grew up mean
My fist got hard and my wits got keener
Roam from town to town to hide my shame
But I made me a vow to the moon and stars
I'd search the honky tonks and bars
And kill that man that gave me that awful name
Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July
And I just hit town and my throat was dry
Thought I'd stop and have myself a brew
At an old saloon on a street of mud
There at a table, dealing stud
Sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me Sue
Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
From a worn out picture that my mother had
Knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye
He was big and bent and gray and old
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold
And I said, "My name is Sue, how do you do?
Now you gonna die", that's what I told him
Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes
And he went down, but to my surprise
He come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear
Then I busted a chair right across his teeth
And we crashed through the walls and into the street
Kicking and a-gouging in the mud and the BLOOD and the beer
Well, I tell you, I've fought tougher men
But I really can't remember when
He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile
Well, I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss
And he reached for his gun but I pulled mine first
He stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile
And he said, "Son, this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
I knew I wouldn't be there to help you along
So I give you that name, and I said goodbye
And I knew you'd have to get tough or die
It's that name that helped to make you strong"
He said, "Now you just fought one heck of a fight
And I know you hate me, and you got the right to kill me now
And I wouldn't blame you if you do
But you ought to thank me, before I die
For the gravel in ya gut and the spit in ya eye
'Cause I'm the son of a bitch that named you Sue"
What could I do?
Well, I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
I called him my pa, and he called me his son
Come away with a different point of view
And I think about him, now and then
Every time I try and every time I win, and if I ever have a-
Well, if I ever have a boy, I'll name him
Frank or George or Bill or Tom, anything but Sue
I don't want him go around, man call him Sue all his life
That's a horrible thing to do to a boy trying to get a hold in the world
Named a boy a

The ragamuffin gunner is returnin' home like a hungry runaway
He walks through town all alone
"He must be from the fort," he hears the high school girls say
This countryside's burnin' with wolfmen fairies dressed in drag for homicide
They hit and run, plead sanctuary, 'neath the holy stone they hide
They're breakin' beams and crosses with a spastic's reelin' perfection
Nuns run bald through Vatican halls pregnant, pleadin' immaculate conception
And everybody's wrecked on Main Street from drinking unholy blood
Sticker smiles sweet as gunner breathes deep, his ankles caked in mud
And I said, "Hey, gunner man, that's quicksand
That's quicksand that ain't mud"
Have you thrown your senses to the war
Or did you lose them in the flood?
That pure American brother, dull-eyed and empty-faced
Races Sundays in Jersey in a Chevy stock super eight
He rides her low on the hip, on the side he's got Bound For Glory in red, white and blue flash paint
He leans on the hood telling racin' stories, the kids call him Jimmy The Saint
Well that blaze and noise boy, he's gunnin' that bitch loaded to blastin' point
He rides headfirst into a hurricane and disappears into a point
And there's nothin' left but some blood where the body fell
That is, nothin' left that you could sell
Just junk all across the horizon, a real highwayman's farewell
And I said, "Hey kid, you think that's oil?
Man, that ain't oil, that's blood"
I wonder what he was thinking when he hit that storm
Or was he just lost in the flood?
Eighth Avenue sailors in satin shirts whisper in the air
Some storefront incarnation of Maria, she's puttin' on me the stare
And Bronx's best apostle stands with his hand on his own hardware
Everything stops, you hear five quick shots, the cops come up for air
And now the whiz-bang gang from uptown, they're shootin' up the street
Whoa, that cat from the Bronx starts lettin' loose, but he gets blown right off his feet
Oh, and some kid comes blastin' round the corner, but a cop puts him right away
He lays on the street holding his leg screaming something in Spanish
Still breathing when I walked away
And somebody said, "Hey man, did you see that?
His body hit the street with such a beautiful thud"
I wonder what the dude was sayin'
Or was he just lost in the flood?
Well, hey man, did you see that?
Lord, those poor cats are sure messed up
I wonder what they were gettin' into
Or were they all just lost in the flood?
Were they lost, oh, tell me, tell me, man
Were they lost?

It's criminal
There ought to be a law
Criminal
There ought to be a whole lot more
You get nothin' for nothin'
Tell me who can you trust
We got what you want
And you got the lust
If you want blood, you got it
If you want blood, you got it
Blood on the streets
Blood on the rocks
Blood in the gutter
Every last drop
You want blood
You got it
Yes you have
It's animal
Livin' in the human ****
Animal
The shit that they toss to you
Feelin' like a christian
Locked in a cage
Thrown to the lions
On the second page
If you want blood, you got it
If you want blood, you got it
Blood on the street
Blood on the rocks
Blood in the gutter
Every last drop
You want blood
You got it
O positive
Blood on the rocks
Blood on the streets
Blood in the sky
Blood on the sheets
If you want blood
You got it
I want you to bleed for me
If you want blood, you got it
If you want blood, you got it
If you want blood, you got it
If you want blood, you got it
If you want blood, you got it

This proud wild land where the wind blows free
Has always been a part of me
It's in my BLOOD, I just can't get it out
For a hundred miles, a man can see
And be about as wild as he wants to be
If he feels like shoutin', all he's gotta do is shout
Where the purple mountains reach up high
And look like they're gonna touch the sky
Where the canyon walls have stood for a million years
Where the days are hot, the nights are cold
The desert sand looks just like gold
These trails were carved in sweat and blood and tears
Where the painted desert, as you pass by
Looks like a rainbow in the sky
The cactus blooms in the early morning sun
Where the night wings sing, the eagles fly
The clouds paint pictures in the sky
The coyote's howl tells you when the day is done
I'm comin' home, this time I'm gonna stay
I'm comin' home, and I ain't never going away
My feet are itchin' to get back home
I've had the desert fever since I've been gone
I need some lovin' so bad that I can't see
When a woman looks a man in the eye
You know it takes a man to satisfy
Thinking about them girls is killing me
I'm goin' home, goin' home
Goin' home, I'm goin' home
Goin' home, goin' home, I'm goin' home
Goin' home, goin'

Well, I'm hot BLOODed, check it and see
I got a fever of a hundred and three
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
I'm hot BLOODed, I'm hot BLOODed
You don't have to read my mind, to know what I have in mind
Honey you oughta know
Now you move so fine, let me lay it on the line
I wanna know what you're doin' after the show
Now it's up to you, we can make a secret rendezvous
Just me and you, I'll show you lovin' like you never knew
That's why, I'm hot BLOODed, check it and see
I got a fever of a hundred and three
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
I'm hot BLOODed, hot BLOODed
If it feels alright, maybe you can stay all night
Shall I leave you my key?
But you've got to give me a sign, come on girl, some kind of sign
Tell me, are you hot mama? you sure look that way to me
Are you old enough? Will you be ready when I call your bluff?
Is my timing right? did you save your love for me tonight?
Yeah I'm hot BLOODed, check it and see
Feel the fever burning inside of me
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
I'm hot BLOODed, I'm hot BLOODed, I'm hot
Now it's up to you, can we make a secret rendezvous?
Oh, before we do, you'll have to get away from you know who
Well, I'm hot BLOODed, check it and see
I got a fever of a hundred and three
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
I'm hot BLOODed, I'm hot BLOODed
Hot BLOODed, every night
Hot BLOODed, you're looking so tight
Hot BLOODed, now you're driving me wild
Hot BLOODed, I'm so hot for you, child
Hot BLOODed, I'm a little bit high
Hot BLOODed, you're a little bit shy
Hot BLOODed, you're making me sing
Hot BLOODed, for your sweet sweet thing
Come on
Does she walk? Does she talk?
Does she come complete?
My homeroom homeroom angel
Always pulled me from my seat
She was pure like snowflakes
No one could ever stain
The memory of my angel
Could never cause me pain
Years go by, I'm lookin' through a girly magazine
And there's my homeroom angel on the pages in between
My BLOOD runs cold
My memory has just been sold
My angel is the centerfold
(Angel is the centerfold)
My BLOOD runs cold (wooh)
My memory has just been sold
(Angel is the centerfold)
Slipped me notes under the desk
While I was thinkin' about her dress
I was shy, I turned away
Before she caught my eye
I was shakin' in my shoes
Whenever she flashed those baby blues
Something had a hold on me
When angel passed close by
Those soft, fuzzy sweaters
Too magical to touch
To see her in that negligée
Is really just too much
My BLOOD runs cold
Yeah, my memory has just been sold
My angel is the centerfold
(Angel is the centerfold)
My BLOOD runs cold
My memory has just been sold (oh yeah)
(Angel is the centerfold)
(Na, na, na...)
Yeah, now listen
It's okay, I understand
This ain't no Never-Never Land
I hope that when this issue's gone
I'll see you when your clothes are on
Take your car, yes we will
We'll take your car and drive it
We'll take it to a motel room
And take 'em off in private
A part of me has just been ripped
The pages from my mind are stripped
Oh no, I can't deny it
Oh yeah, I guess I gotta buy it
My BLOOD runs cold
My memory has just been sold
My angel is the centerfold
(Angel is the centerfold)
My BLOOD runs cold (wooh)
My memory has just been sold
(My angel is the centerfold)
(Na, na, na...)
Alright, alright
1, 2, 3, 4
(Na, na, na...)
My BLOOD runs cold
My memory has just been sold
My angel is the centerfold
Angel is the centerfold
My BLOOD runs cold, oh yeah
My memory has just been sold
My angel is the centerfold
Angel is the centerfold
John Mellencamp
Scarecrow on a wooden cross, blackbird in the barn
400 empty acres that used to be my farm
Grew up like my daddy did, my grandpa cleared this land
When I was five I walked the fence while grandpa held my hand
Rain on the scarecrow
Blood on the plow
This land fed a nation
This land made me proud
And son I'm just sorry
There's no legacy for you now
Rain on the scarecrow
Blood on the plow
Rain on the scarecrow
Blood on the plow
The crops we grew last summer weren't enough to pay the loans
Couldn't buy the seed to plant this spring and the Farmers' Bank foreclosed
Called my old friend Schepman up, to auction off the land
He said, "John it's just my job and I hope you understand"
Hey, calling it your job ol' hoss, sure don't make it right
But if you want me to I'll say a prayer for your soul tonight
And Grandma's on the front porch swing with a Bible in her hand
Sometimes I hear her singing "Take me to the Promised Land"
When you take away a man's dignity, he can't work his fields and cows
There'll be blood on the scarecrow
Blood on the plow
Blood on the scarecrow
Blood on the plow
Well there's 97 crosses planted in the courthouse yard
And 97 families who lost 97 farms
I think about my grandpa
My neighbors and my name
Some nights I feel like dyin'
Like that scarecrow in the rain
Rain on the scarecrow
Blood on the plow
This land fed a nation
Hey, this land made me proud
And son I'm just sorry
There's just memories for you now
Rain on the scarecrow
Blood on the plow
Rain on the scarecrow
Blood on the plow
Rain on the scarecrow
Blood on the plow
This land fed a nation
This land made me so proud
Son I'm just sorry
They're just memories for you now
Rain on the scarecrow
Blood on the plow
Rain on the scarecrow
Blood on the plow, hey

Trying to love two women is like a ball and chain.
Trying to love two women is like a ball and chain.
Sometimes the pleasure ain't worth the strain.
It's a long old GRIND, and it tires your mind.
Trying to hold two women is tearing me apart.
Trying to hold two women is tearing me apart.
One's got my money, the other's got my heart.
It's a long old grind, and it tires your mind.
When you try to please two women, you can't please yourself.
When you try to please two women, you can't please yourself.
At best it's only half good; a man can't stock two shelves.
It's a long old grind, and it tires your mind.

A man has dreams of walking with giants
To carve his niche in the edifice of time
Before the mortar of his zeal
Has a chance to congeal
The cup is dashed from his lips
The flame is snuffed aborning
He's brought to rack and ruin in his prime
Life's a rum go, guv'nor, and that's the truth
You know what I think? It's that woman, Mary Poppins!
From the moment she stepped into this house
Things began to happen to me!
Mary Poppins?
Yes, yes, of course!
My world was calm, well ordered...
Exemplary
Then came this person
With chaos in her wake
And now my life's ambitions go
With one fell blow
It's quite a bitter pill
To take
It's that Poppins woman, she did it!
I know the very person you mean—Mary Poppins!
She's the one what sings:
A spoonful of sugar
That is all it takes
It changes bread and water into
Tea and cakes
See, that's exactly what I mean!
Changing bread and water into tea and cakes, indeed
No wonder everything's higgledy-piggledy here!
A spoonful of sugar
Goes a long, long way
'Ave yourself a healthy helpin'
Every day
An 'ealthy helpin' of trouble if you ask me
Do you know what she did? I realize it now
She tricked me into taking Jane and Michael to the bank
That's how all the trouble started!
Tricked you into taking the children on an outing?
Yes
Outrageous! A man with all the important things you have to do
Shameful!
You're a man of high position
Esteemed by your peers
And when your little tykes are cryin'
You haven't time to dry their tears
And see them grateful little faces
Smilin' up at you
Because their dad
He always knows
Just what to do
Like you say, guv'nor...
You've got to GRIND, GRIND, GRIND
At that grindstone
Though childhood slips
Like sand
Through a sieve
And all too soon
They've up and grown
And then they've flown
And it's too late for you to give
Just that spoonful of sugar
To 'elp the medicine go down
The medicine go down
Medicine go down
Well, goodbye, guv'nor, sorry to have troubled you
The lights are on, but you're not home
Your mind is not your own
Your heart sweats, your body shakes
Another kiss is what it takes
You can't sleep, you can't eat
There's no doubt, you're in deep
Your throat is tight, you can't breathe
Another kiss is all you need
Oh ooh
You like to think that you're immune to the stuff...oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough
You know you're gonna have to face it
You're addicted to love
You see the signs, but you can't read
You're running at a different speed
Your heart beats in double time
Another kiss and you'll be mine, a one-track mind
You can't be saved
Oblivion is all you crave
If there's some left for you
You don't mind if you do
Oh ooh
You like to think that you're immune to the stuff
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough
You know you're gonna have to face it
You're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Your lights are on, but you're not home
Your will is not your own
Your heart sweats and teeth GRIND
Another kiss and you'll be mine

I'm sick and tired of the damn TV
I'm gonna make my own movie
I wanna star in a late night show
And all I need is my video
Shock me, make it electric
Shock me, make it last
Curtain up let the camera roll
It's automatic, it's in control
Got no script baby, ain't no lines
Just me and you and a real good time
Oh
Shock me, make it electric
Shock me, make it last
Shock me, gimme thunder and lightning
Shock me, oh babe I need it fast
'Cause all I need is some
Action, action, action, not words
Gimme action, action, action not words
Come on and shock me
Let the cameras roll
I'll be the hero, you be the star
With your wine and your caviar
No audition, a starring roll
I'll be your Bogart and you be Monroe
Yeah
Shock me, make it electric
Shock me, oh bump and GRIND
Shock me, make a night to remember
Shock me, do it one more time
So cut me in on the action
Lights, camera, sound
I need action
Action, action, gimme action not words
Let the camera roll
Action, action, action not words
I need a little
Action, action, action not words
Well, shake a little piece of your
Action, action, action not words
Come on, talk to me with your body
Action

I'm sorry, but I'm just a girl
Not usually the kind to show my heart to the world
I'm pretty good at keeping it together
I hold my composure, for worse or for better
So I apologize if you don't like what you see
But sometimes my emotions get the best of me
And falling APART is as human as it gets
You can't hide it, you can't fight what the truth is
You can pretty lie and say it's okay
You can pretty smile and just walk away
Pretty much fake your way through anything
But you can't cry pretty
Oh no, you can’t dress it up in lace or rhinestones
It don't matter if you're in a crowd or home all alone
Yeah, it's all the same when you're looking in the mirror
A picture of pain, so let it flow like a river
You can pretty lie and say it's okay
You can pretty smile and just walk away
Pretty much fake your way through anything
But you can't cry pretty
You can't turn off the flood when the dam breaks
When all your mascara is going to waste
When things get ugly, you just gotta face
That you can't cry pretty
Oh no, you can't
Ooh, yeah
You can't turn off the flood when the dam breaks
When all your mascara is going to waste
When things get ugly, you just gotta face
That you can't cry pretty
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
No, you can't cry
No, you can't cry
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, woo
You can't cry
You can't cry pretty, baby
Oh yeah, woo, woo
No, you can't cry pretty, yeah

Woman
I can hardly express
My mixed emotions at my thoughtlessness
After all, I'm forever in your debt
And woman
I will try to express
My inner feelings and thankfulness
For showing me the meaning of success
Ooh-ooh, well-well
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Ooh-ooh, well-well
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Woman
I know you understand
The little child inside the man
Please remember, my life is in your hands
And woman
Hold me close to your heart
However distant, don't keep us APART
After all, it is written in the stars
Ooh-ooh, well-well
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Ooh-ooh, well-well
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
woman
Please let me explain
I never meant to cause you sorrow or pain
So let me tell you again and again and again
I love you, yeah-yeah
Now and forever
I love you, yeah-yeah
Now and forever
I love you, yeah-yeah
Now and forever
I love you, yeah-yeah
Now and forever

Way down in Texas, down around San Antone
Stay's a little lovely
Sweeter than you've ever known
Don't let me hear that sweet kid's name
Get your hands on me and I'll drive you insane
So tear me APART if you want to win my heart
Tear me apart if you want to win my heart
Well I've been seen in the back of a limousine
I may not own it, but it's bigger than you've ever seen
She'll ride around and think she's a star
If you squeeze, she's a tease, you won't get far
So tear me apart if you want to win my heart
Tear me apart if you want to win my heart
Oh your legs start shaking every time they hear my name
There'll be no heart breaking and you know you'll never be the same
Don't talk to me about Louisiana Sue
'Cos she can't do the things that I can do
So tear me apart if you want to win my heart
I'm going to say goodbye to the likes of San Antone
I'm Hollywood bound and there I'm gonna make my home
Now I don't give a damn what they think they've seen
'Cos they ain't seen nothing like a Texas queen
So tear me apart if you want to win my heart
Tear me apart if you want to win my heart
Tear me apart if you want to win my heart
Tear me apart if you want to win my heart
Tear me apart if you want to win my heart
Tear me apart if you want to win my heart
Tear me apart if you want to win my heart
Tear me apart if you want to win my heart
Tear me apart if you want to win my
Tear me apart if you want to win my
Tear me apart if you want to win my heart

Don't know how to take it, don't know where to go
My resistance's running low
And everyday the hold is getting tighter and it troubles me so
You know that I'm nobody's fool
I'm nobody's fool and yet it's clear to me
I don't have a strategy
It's just like taking candy from a baby
And I think I must be
Under attack, I'm being taken
About to crack, defenses breaking
Won't somebody see and save a heart?
Come and rescue me now 'cause I'm falling APART
Under attack, I'm taking cover
He saw my track, my chasing lover
Thinking nothing's gonna stop him now
Should I want to, I'm not sure, I won't know how
Now this is getting crazy, I should tell him so
Really let my anger show
'Cause waiting at the answer to his questions is a definite blow
I'm kind of certain that's the truth
Guess I'm kind of flattered but I'm scared as well
Something like a magic spell
I hardly dare to think of what could happen
Where I'd be if I fell
Under attack, I'm being taken
About to crack, defenses breaking
Won't somebody see and save a heart?
Come and rescue me now 'cause I'm falling apart
Under attack, I'm taking cover
He saw my track, my chasing lover
Thinking nothing's gonna stop him now
Should I want to, I'm not sure, I won't know how
Under attack, I'm being taken
About to crack, defenses breaking
Won't somebody see and save a heart?
Come and rescue me now 'cause I'm falling apart
Under attack, I'm taking cover
He saw my track, my chasing lover
Thinking nothing's gonna stop him now
Should I want to, I'm not sure, I won't know how
Under attack, I'm being taken
About to crack, defenses breaking
Won't somebody see and save a heart?
Come and rescue me now 'cause I'm falling apart
Don't ask me
What you know is true
Don't have to tell you
I love your precious heart
I
I was standing
You were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never tear us APART
We could live
For a thousand years
But if I hurt you
I'd make wine from your tears
I told you
That we could fly
'Cause we all have wings
But some of us don't know why
I was standing
You were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never ever tear us APART
I (don't ask me)
I was standing (you know it's true)
Mm, you were there (worlds collided)
Two worlds collided (we're shining through)
And they could never tear us APART
You (don't ask me)
You were standing (you know it's true)
I was there (worlds collided)
Two worlds collided (we're shining through)
And they could never tear us APART
I
I was standing
You were there
Two worlds collided

The police in New York City
They chased a boy right through the park
And in a case of mistaken identity
They put a bullet through his heart
Heartbreakers with your forty-four
I want to tear your world APART
You heart breaker with your forty-four
I want to tear your world APART
A ten-year-old girl on a street corner
Sticking needles in her arms
She died in the dirt of an alleyway
Her mother said she had no chance, no chance
Heartbreaker, heartbreaker
She stuck the pins right in her heart
Heartbreaker, pain maker
Stole the love right out your heart
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Want to tear your world APART
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Want to tear your world APART
Heartbreaker, heartbreaker
You stole the love right out of my heart
Heartbreaker, heartbreaker
I want to tear that world
I want to tear that world a-
Ah yeah, ah yeah
I want to tear that world APART
Heartbreaker, heartbreaker
Stole the love, you stole the love
Ah yeah
You said you didn't have no chance
Ah yeah, ah yeah
She stuck pins right in her heart
Ah yeah, you're a heartbreaker
I wanna tear that world APART
