Biden's pick for VP was based on qualifications first and color second. Harris was and is more than qualified. Unlike Trump's current pick for VP, she worked hard and produced impressive results.

His administration, if you still persist on bringing him into the argument, is one of the most successful administrations in years. One hundred years from now they'll be saying how he succeeded a deranged criminal president and fixed the country.

working together, are most effective at solving problems, because different perspectives complement each other. That's of course only when people are able to listen to each other, which is also part of DEI. Preconceptions are devastating to the ability to solve problems.
If DEI is executed as; "We need a black woman to meet our targets!", I agree that's mostly useless. Targets on that can only force employees to be less sexist and racist, which is somewhat productive, but it completely ignores the benefit of diverse personality traits and skills working together to solve a problem. That's just resulting from ignorant managers trying to implement what their bosses throw over the wall.
They can then report back the numbers of how diverse their team is, while the team might not have any diverse personality traits and skills.
True, Biden was intentionally looking for a black woman for VP.
That was a strategic pick, not a DEI pick. Unfortunately, voters are small-minded.
Voters let superficial impressions distract them from policies that affect their lives.
Still, there are enough black women in the US to pick a good VP from.
