This upcoming weekend is the official end of summer in the United States, culminating on Monday, September 5, Labor Day. It always makes me sad when summer is over, it gets darker sooner and it stays darker longer in the morning. As much as I enjoy fall, it is sad when summer wraps up.

2nd day of spring here Even tho on the Goldcoast every day is summer, we have had very strange weather the last couple of years
By bella! [Ignore] 01,Sep,22 21:35 other posts
In the Northern Hemisphere, I believe schools will generally observe "summer vacation" during the months of June, July and August. When months are designated "summer vacation" months in the Southern Hemisphere, December, January and February?
By bella! [Ignore] 01,Sep,22 21:36 other posts
You're weather has been strange for the last couple of years? How so?
By PITBULL [Ignore] 01,Sep,22 21:39 other posts
Summer is not over for me until September 18. On this day it will be my last day of vacation in Key West, Florida.

The precipitation has been abnormal. Two years in a row we have had major floods. Temp through winter has been 4c some mornings, unheard of as we live right on the beach. Storms have become more often and more ferocious
By bella! [Ignore] 01,Sep,22 23:52 other posts
Oh! We have experienced strange weather conditions all over the world, probably attributed to global warming.
By Dev01 [Ignore] 02,Sep,22 00:01 other posts
I don't want to travel the global warming/climate change issue We have had El ninio, here two years in a row. Just warm water currents moving. El ninio sound like Jamie is trailing me
By bella! [Ignore] 02,Sep,22 00:10 other posts
Oh, when you hear the term "El niño" you immediately think of Jamie ? He's going to appreciate that!
By Dev01 [Ignore] 02,Sep,22 00:20 other posts
We love Jamie, and he real. Skyed many times just think El ninio sounds El Chapo and Mexican He knows

Those socialist assholes in Jackson Mississippi have some fucking nerve asking for a government handout just because they don't have any "safe" drinking water!
How is that OUR problem, you shiftless, commie bastards?
If you need it so badly, go to the damn store and BUY a bottle of water like the rest of us do. Quit asking the 'Merican taxpayers to take care of your problems!

(Good Lord, writing that gave me a brain cramp. How do you MAGA people go ten minutes without your heads exploding?)
By bella! [Ignore] 31,Aug,22 13:56 other posts
That's crazy! Not enough water to fight fires OR flush toilets! Flint, Michigan had lead in their water but they had water! This is like 3rd World Country problems!

Regarding your brain cramp, are you able to take a couple of aspirin and put your feet up?
By JustWill [Ignore] 31,Aug,22 15:25 other posts
I am afraid that won't help.
I am used to doing mental calisthenics, but making my brain squish down small enough to think like a MAGA is pretty traumatic.
I will probably have a migraine for days...
By bella! [Ignore] 31,Aug,22 15:38 other posts
I do hope your brain fluffy up and your migraine is gone before you go back to school.

Well take a deep breath and think for a minute, this "crisis" didn't start just last week.

Those folks didn't even have their pipes insolated from freezing last year.
It took decades for pumps to get old and wear out, flooding is nothing new,it happens often enough systems should have already been in place to deal with it.
Once this handout is used,We as taxpayers shouldn't be hearing any more about problems with water there.
BUT mark my words, 2 years from now, flooding or freezing will cause another "crisis" .

Keep this in mind,
Mayor: Chokwe Antar Lumumba
Mayor party: Democratic
Last mayoral election: 2021
Next mayoral election: 2025
Chokwe Antar Lumumba (born March 29, 1983) is an American attorney, activist and politician ... Lumumba is a self-described progressive and socialist.

Attorney Lumumba began his community work early on—serving as co-director of the Malcolm X Grassroots Day Camp
Does that not ring a bell? violent racist man Malcom was.

note the water problem in 2021.progressive mayor, gee ,no wonder they have issues.

Economically, the city has been in a long, slow decline for decades, set in motion in 1962, when President John F. Kennedy sent federal troops to the University of Mississippi in Oxford to force the school to admit a Black student named James Meredith.
So a democrat president sent the damn army in there to force a school to take a black kid.and the economy has been sinking every since. Way to go democrats, even back in the 60's you could fuck up a wet dream.
By JustWill [Ignore] 31,Aug,22 15:29 other posts
So, their water is filthy AND racist?!
I bet that Black student didn't even graduate and never paid back his student loans...
By phart [Ignore] 31,Aug,22 15:54 other posts
Their economy went on the decline because of racism. If Donald Trump had sent troops in to make a school take a white student, you know the world would be on fire now right?
So who was really racist back then?
And if you notice, I said after that hand out was used we would probably hear about another "crisis" in a couple years.
Sadly they need some help, and I think some solutions need to be applied now, of course, BUT don't mismanage and allow things to go back down hill just so you can beg more money. FIX problems and MAINTAIN the systems.
Some folks understand the difference between a hand OUT and a HAND UP. And some don't and just keep thinking it is ok to keep begging for more.
By JustWill [Ignore] 31,Aug,22 19:11 other posts
So, it's all connected!
One uppity Black guy thinks that he is entitled to go to school with a bunch of normal White people and sixty years later they have turds floating in their drinking water.
That evil bastard was probably planning this from the start.
Seriously, you know you can't trust them. They are ALWAYS plotting something.
This is the kind of stuff they should be teaching in our schools...
By phart [Ignore] 31,Aug,22 21:07 other posts
No it's the kind of stuff that leaves a bad taste in peoples mouths.
When folks like you refuse to understand history is a good indicator of the future because the future is built upon it, history repeats it's self.
Fix the problems ,get those folks some water .BUT don't expect them to be satisfied.
Another crisis will happen because of miss management or poor planning in a couple years.

It is clear that this is a democrat run city. That has had issues for decades. GEE I wonder why? Because they are piss poor managers. They don't mind starting "new" things, but to hell with maintaining what they already have.

Sad really

The city has also been unable to fully chip away at its service backlog, in part because a shrinking population has left it with a tax base that is roughly 20% smaller today than it was in 1980.
People have been leaving the city for some reason.
By mr_blue [Ignore] 01,Sep,22 16:09 other posts
Yet Mississippi, has $2.5 billion in surplus funds....so it's obvious that Jackson is not being given the money to fix it because of who lives there...
By phart [Ignore] 01,Sep,22 16:13 other posts
Gee I wonder why the state hasn't given the city some of that money? Could it be they know it will get blown up a wild hogs ass and none or little will be used to fix the problem?

Gasoline dipped down to an all time summer low in my little town for about one week! Yep, $3.699 was the "bargain" price for regular petrol however today, it went up in price. No, not pennies, $0.20 per gallon!

It was one hella storm, for sure and thanks for asking. The storm rolled in at approximately 6 pm and I was not home. The rain was coming down so hard, it would have been impossible to drive in. I waited a while and when it slowed down, I made a dash for my car. Was able to get home and before I could make a dash to my house, it was like the heavens opened up again with more heavy rain so I sat in my car. I park between my other car and the garage, the winds were so wild that my car shook uncontrollably. It scared the mess out of me.

Like the article says, power outages in Southeast Michigan. Again, thank you for asking, phart.

I love the reference to patina! Yes, of course, with regard to jewelry, patina gives so much character to any piece. Many years ago I was into creating and making silver jewelry pieces. I used a product called liver of sulfur patina to create immediate results for pieces that gave the appearance to be aged.
