OLD LIVES MATTER!
By phart [Ignore] 15,Feb,23 12:30 other posts
Really, tell that to the folks supporting Obama care, that want death counselors and that tried to prevent women from getting mammograms by claiming it was not necessary and so on. When my dad hit 85 years old, the dr's said insurance would no longer cover colonoscopy's and endoscopy's unless there were obvious signs of problems. With Barret's esophagus, that is NOT good.He is having issues with his right hand after that 2'd #&$* covid shot, Nothing has been done to help, except giving him a wrist brace.
Care for the old is declining after obama care.
The only justice is the folks that love it so much, shall 1 day be served by it themselves and I hope I get to watch them whine and piss and moan on tv about they want help and insurance won't pay.
News 2060, "They paid for my transition in 2020 but won't pay for my prostate cancer treatment now" Boobooohoooohoo.

Our personal experience with a Medicare Advantage plan offered by Florida Blue has been very good. You are eligible for it when you reach 65. Of course it's in association with Medicare. I don't understand why your dad is not part of that. Our plan does not have "an age" restriction.
The passage of Obamacare allowed Medicare Advantage to function fundamentally as it had before. Medicare Advantage, also called Part C, is another way to get your Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) benefits through a private insurance company approved by Medicare. Medicare Advantage plans got their name in 2003 with the passage of the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA). Some Medicare beneficiaries choose Medicare Advantage plans because they might offer benefits Original Medicare doesn’t cover, such as routine dental, routine vision, and prescription drug coverage. Most Medicare Advantage plans are HMOs (health maintenance organizations). Some Medicare Advantage plans may advertise $0 plan premiums, but with Medicare Advantage, you must continue to pay your Part B premium (and Part A premium if applicable).

Aw Shucks, seems like the White House doesn´t want to admit yet that the Aliens are real and among us. Maybe a dumb question: what signal does it send to the UFO spaceships over Alaska or Canada when they are blasted out of the sky? Like...Mars Attacks...Meeep...fire up the mega-intergalactic-pulse-cannon?
By #610414 14,Feb,23 08:16
The message? Don't come. This world is crazy. Everyone is at war. The people in charge are all crazy.

If we do, someone will make money off of it. Someone will start a movement protesting the cruelty towards aliens. Someone will try to surrender to them without authority. And someone will be convicted of cannibalistic practices on aliens. Trump will say the aliens stole ballots in the 2020 elections and MTGreen will say they are all named "Allen's"🤣🤣
By phart [Ignore] 14,Feb,23 21:06 other posts
The democrats would give amnesty to the aliens.

I am thinking that is why we don't actually get to talk to the aliens, they don't feel like there is any intelligent life down here! They see joe on tv and think, "damn what a bunch of idiots".

Sure, they would think: "How can they have two clubs of lying, corrupt, rich people, bribed by wealthy people, representing the rest of them? Have they never heard of socialism or at least unions? Damn, what a bunch of poor, gullible idiots!"

I'm pretty sure your country is much like mine. Ninety percent of the population don't know, don't understand, or don't care about politics. They just go with the flow. And, if it's like in my country, that flow, like all other excrement, flows slow.🤣😈

Surely you didn't burn the bacon? Bacon smell is GOOD. Makes me hungry just thinking about it
By kebmo [Ignore] 15,Feb,23 14:02 other posts
When I buy a pound of bacon I bake it all.
I put a sheet of parchment paper on a tray (for easier cleanup after it’s cooked) and bake it in the oven. This prevents splatter all over my stove and the cleanup that goes with frying bacon. After it’s cooked I put it on paper towel to dry and cool and then wrap it in individual packages of three pieces and freeze them. When I want bacon for a sandwich I open my freezer door and take a pack out to thaw.
Easy peezy lemon squeezy!

I'm not home, I'm in Florida and I don't have all the "things" that I might need. It's been years since I baked a full pound of bacon, heck, it's been even MORE YEARS since I decided to buy and fry a few strips at one time.... Bacon might be something I have when I eat out, whether I'm having it with eggs or on a BLT. When I shopped, I noticed some nice looking bacon and YESTERDAY was the day I wanted a BLT!

I just finished watching a documentary on YouTube uploaded 4 years ago, titled TOO POSH TO PAY. Although this documentary addressed the British middle class, white collar theft is rampant all across the globe.

Here's a question; have you stolen, are you aware of any wrongdoing where you work or worked?

I'm going to start this off by saying that I have stolen, no matter how "insignificant" I think it was. Yep, when I was employed by BCBSM, I've been known to take pens, markers, note pads, Post-It notes, etc. When I had a job as a bartender, I served patrons drinks that were "compliments of the house".

Bottom line, no matter how "small and insignificant" I thought my actions were, it was theft.
By Ananas2xLekker [Ignore] 13,Feb,23 09:47 other posts
When workers steal, they steal between a few post-its or cash from the register.
When they get caught, they get fired and have a hard time ever working again.
When upper management steals, they steal the employees retirement funds
or millions/billions from the tax-payer. When they get caught, they almost never get punished. If the company crumbles or they are forced to leave, they still leave with millions in bonuses and go to the next company to do it all over again.

The more "small and insignificant" stealing is, the harder it's judged relatively.
So better not do it, because it only benefits, if you can do it by the millions.

That's another 10 Hail Marys for you then.

My girlfriend works for a catering company. It's ridiculous how fast cutlery disappears and how much they keep ordering. In all my years at my company, I might have accidentally put one fork in my breadbox and not returned it, but at the rate it disappears some people should have noting but canteen cutlery at home.
By #610414 14,Feb,23 08:14
I've worked in two big city hospitals. There was a very concerted effort in both to prevent employee theft. Medical supplies, and in particular, drugs, are big targets, and so, they were well protected. What did disappeared was the personal hygiene items for patients. Pens, posted notes, even shoe covers were also, fair game.
By Ananas2xLekker [Ignore] 15,Feb,23 09:18 other posts
Of course, medical supplies, and in particular drugs are guarded like the queens underwear here too. But it doesn't make sense to guard low-risk, low-cost items in the same way. That would just create massive bureaucracy and lost working hours, creating more costs than the cost of some theft. Some employers might even close their eyes to the small theft, thinking that it's an extra employee benefit.
For my employer, it would also be difficult to separate theft from legitimate use of pens, post-its, markers and notepads, because we work from home 90%. I have a big stack of post-its here, that I took from the office, but 99.9% I use for work. It's my system to keep track of all my small and big projects and little jobs resulting from it.

This is messed up and quite honestly, something I have mixed emotions on. Of course it scares me that this women poses a health threat to other unsuspecting Americans but should our court system really intervene?

A Washington state resident has spent the past year willfully ignored court orders to have her active and contagious case of tuberculosis treated and remain in isolation while doing so.

How do you feel about vaccinations ? And an individuals choice to not take medication to prevent a contagious disease?

Anyone who didn't have a covid-19 jab and is still living will probably be ok with someone walking around with TB...
What about religious rights also? Jehovah's witnesses are notorious for not following court orders regarding medication!!!
By bella! [Ignore] 07,Feb,23 03:24 other posts
That is what I meant when I said I had "mixed emotions" regarding this. Believe me, I have thought about and struggled with the things that you expressed. 👍 It seems to fall under what we, as Americans, refer to as our "inalienable rights".

DAMMIT! I spotted yet another one of my grammatical errors,
By mr_blue [Ignore] 07,Feb,23 05:19 other posts
I can understand why some people don't trust the covid vaccine, cuz it's a new thing, but with well established disease/illness,not taking a vaccine seems stupid to me!!
If you travel to a country with malaria, you will take the shots and meds to prevent that!!!!
Polio vaccine cannot cure you,but is a preventive measure to reduce your risk of the polio virus..

It's individual rights versus collective rights. You have the right to refuse, but if you are in a public space , others have the right to breath uninfected air/be in a clean from disease space.
By #610414 07,Feb,23 12:24
The vaccine for TB is no longer recommend in this country due to the low amount of cases in the US. It's also not that effective on adults.
By dgraff [Ignore] 07,Feb,23 07:24 other posts
I’m pretty sure it was mandatory to be vaccinated for TB along with the other vaccinations we got at school a billion years ago
By bella! [Ignore] 07,Feb,23 08:15 other posts
I'm not sure whether the TB vaccine was mandatory however, how is it different any different than attempting to make the COVID "vaccine" mandatory?
By dgraff [Ignore] 07,Feb,23 09:05 other posts
Yeah I know I don’t care what Mr joe Biden says I’m not getting a Covid vaccine it was rushed to much and now yet they are finding out that they covered up some hidden side effects and dangers i have enough lumps and bumps and scars yet alone growing a third eye in the middle of my forehead from the Covid shot
By bella! [Ignore] 07,Feb,23 09:51 other posts
Both you and I and many more Americans decided against the COVID vaccine just as the woman from Washington state declined court orders to seek treatment for tuberculosis and to remain quarantined.

The last sentence always cracks me up!!! statistically speaking more Americans are incarcerated by percentage of population than anywhere else in the democratic world!!
By #610414 07,Feb,23 21:17
It's true, we do have a large prison population (0.7 %) but, there are aprox 330 million free. So, yes, you could say we are the land of the free.
By mr_blue [Ignore] 08,Feb,23 00:21 other posts
Think about that for a second 0.7% of 330 million people in jail!!!!so yeah land of the free!!!!
By phart [Ignore] 08,Feb,23 13:19 other posts
2,310,000 is not even 1% of the population. And to think, most are back in there for multiable times.that number would be lower if the prison system ditched cable tv,and the play grounds and gyms and let people STAY in their cells for their terms.
By mr_blue [Ignore] 08,Feb,23 14:34 other posts
still missing the point!!
At least if all those criminals are in prison they are not stealing your shit...
One minute you want everyone locked up,but then you say there are too many in prison!!! Still fun to watch your cognitive dissonance remain strong!!!
By #610414 08,Feb,23 17:54
You are also missing the point. If you put together all of your population in the UK, there's only about 150 million. Just on numbers alone we would have many more incarcerations. When you factor gun violence (thanks to the idiots) and drug use and a bigger police presence, no wonder we have so many inmates.
By mr_blue [Ignore] 08,Feb,23 19:31 other posts
I did say to think about it!!!
Percentage of population is the metric I used!!
And the USA!!! Not the UK!!!
By #610414 08,Feb,23 21:51
That’s the metric I used too. See my original post. The only reason I brought up the UK was for comparison. Now, I admit I’ve never been to the UK. The closest was the Bahamas before their independence. Thinking about it makes me realize that if less than 1% of our people are locked up, considering the land mass of this country, I’d say it’s pretty safe country. And that was an observation, not a put down of the UK
By phart [Ignore] 08,Feb,23 19:03 other posts
NO you misinterpreted i agree with the point you made ,there are very few people in prison compared to the number out there in the country
I also said if prison was PRISON, there would be less in there because they would learn NOT TO STEAL my shit or yours the first time.
But most go back because it is warm, they have tv,and gyms to work out in.
Take those nice things away and make it 4 grey walls like it used to be and there would be less in there and more productive people out in the world
By mr_blue [Ignore] 08,Feb,23 19:46 other posts
And you still miss the point, per hundred people the USA has the largest number of people that are not free(in prison)
So is it the land of the free, when so many people are in prison!!!?
Prison is not a deterrent anymore!! You have to look at why people commit the crimes they do and how to reduce the chances of those demographics from getting into a life of crime!!
Productive is what to you? working 60 hours a week for a company that pays you minimum wage!!!or go to college where you get ripped off for a degree and be in debt for life!!!
Working hard doesn't equal a good quality of life!!! working smart does!!!
And those boomerang prisoners are probably addicts!!so is better they are in prison or on the streets robbing to feed their habits?
It's easy to just point fingers and say this is what should be done!!but if you make enough people desperate and struggling to get through each day!you make a desperate way of life!! people crack under pressure!!
By phart [Ignore] 08,Feb,23 21:59 other posts
If you go to college and get a degree and can't pay for it ,you ripped yourself off, no one else did.
We have 40 hour weeks here, anything over that is over time pay. And the democrats tax that more, that is why it doesn't help as much as it COULD, if democrats would get out of your pockets.

You have to be smart from the start ,make good grades in school ,get Grants ,and Scholarships. THEN get a degree in a industry that has value, engineering, or pharma, Not basket weaving and social studies. To many of those out of work social studies grads .and alot of these new degrees in things that weren't even a thing 20 years ago like gender studies, those people are going to starve, and I feel nothing for them.

Prison is not a deterrent because of liberal policy's trying to make it more "humane". It is a nice place to go when you don't want any responsibility or don't want to work or have a family. That needs to change. I have often said we need to contract our prison system out to china. Any one over a 5 year sentence goes to china to serve. I bet when they come back, they will be a changed person for the better. As they will not want to go back.
Get drugs off the street and stop creating the desperate situations you speak of. Making way for druggies to use safely, is not going to stop them.Jail the users right along with the dealers, take away the market and the source at the same time. Problem will dwindle.
By mr_blue [Ignore] 09,Feb,23 01:45 other posts
You think that people should live how you want them to be!!
That's not reality!!!
For all you have just posted, you just state, that it's luck and not hard work that gets you ahead in life!!!
Why are you so bothered by how others live their lives!!?
It's not your money they are spending!!
And your on medication,so fuck off, you're an addict of corporate drugs!!!pushed on to you by a doctor making money off your bad luck!!!
Addiction is an illness and till people realise that you cant improve anything!
More Americans are addicted to prescription drugs than ill3gal ones!
Why do people do drugs phart? Explain why they do drugs?
People want to get high and need pain relief, always have, always will!!!

Why is working the thing that determines someone's value?
If half of the jobs are nothing jobs as you point out! someone still has to do them and be qualified to do it!!when things change, employment skills change!!

People get desperate when they have nothing,so if you born into nothing, what chance do you have!? Hope for that luck you speak off!! What if you have siblings starving, shitty parents hooked on hillbilly heroin? What you gonna do? just sit there and starve? You become a product of your environment phart!!
There's whole counties addicted to prescription drugs, cuz there are no jobs or prospects cuz the big town employer closed the place down!

And why should people have a family, who are you to tell them they should have k1ds,fuck off you fascist!!
I suppose you think you have the right to tell women what to do and when to do it?

Stay in your basement and live in your bubble of hannity, Limbaugh and newsmax!!!!

Cognitive dissonance is strong with you!!!!
You said nothing will stop the druggies!!!!yet you still want to lock them up and give them no chance to repent!!!or show remorse for their actions!or get addiction help!!
What about all the armed services who are addicted to drugs cuz of the trauma they have seen? Do you give them a free pass cuz they served your country? Or do just lock them up like normal junkies?
By phart [Ignore] 09,Feb,23 11:44 other posts
I missed the boat on being addicted to pain meds, I use some over the counter when needed, but none of that shit, trust me,the dr.s tried to get me hooked.
I cant' stand for my mind to be screwed up like those oxys and fentanyl does to you.
I am not saying people have to have familys, but that is part of how the species procreates and continues.
As to people having nothing, whose fault is it? I know to manyh druggies that go to rehab, get some church to get behind them, donate a car, give em a job ,put them in a place to stay, only to later steal the speakers out of the church wreck the car,and tear the wires out of the house to sell for crack.
1 guy, last count 35 times in rehab. not a veteran, just somebody that was in my high school class that got ahold of pot and then it was not enough. He is a thief thug, and sonof a bitch, and there is no need to waste time on him or others like him. Lock em up,keep them out of the working familys way.
I am bothered about how others live their lives when it affects the way I can live mine. Their stupidity ,their stealing, their begging and borrowing, only to waste and squander , that makes me and anyone else with some level of common sense mad and tired of the shit .And we are left wanting solutions and all we get are news reports about safe havens for them to keep pumping drugs.
By #681164 09,Feb,23 09:34
Phart, the 40 hour work week has been around since before WWII. Anything over 40 hrs is OT and gets raxed at 20% but, at the end of the year, when you do yo uh r taxes, you get it back. I don't see how you can blame democrats. There's been several Republican presidents and Congresses and no one changed it. You and I have a very different view of prison. I don't care if they have tv, cable, or a gym, being cooped up in a cell with no privacy or being able to walk in fresh air, seems to me like a cage for wild animals. A prison sentence can act like a deterrent, but, it's not why a convicted criminal is sent there. It's a punishment for the criminal and a safety for the public. Repeat offenders come in two types. There's the one that can't help himself like a drug addict. Then there's career criminal. He likes to get ahead by stealing. Neither one wants to be incarcerated. The first one needs his fix. The second one wants to be successful. Can't do that in jail. Those people that want to get caught want it as a temporary shelter. All one needs to do is throw a brick through a glass store front.
You mention a few amenities found in some prisons. A tv is a way to keep the prison population distracted. People crowded together with no hope of getting free tend to plan mayhem/escapes. The TV's are more for the benefit of the staff. The same with a gym. It provides an outlet for tension. One of the reasons drug users are not jailed is that addiction is a sickness, not a crime, and, there's zero chance of getting those drugs off the streets. Your suggestion would increase the jail/prison population multi-fold.
By phart [Ignore] 09,Feb,23 11:55 other posts
If you put a prisoner in a 4 wall cell with solid floor and ceiling, with heavy bars on the front with a slot for food to slide thru and a toilet made of cast iron and a sink with 1 lever that is cast solid to the valve,in there, and leave them, what problem are they for staff?
Only reason they are a problem for staff is because they are not kept in their cells until their sentence is thru.
By #610414 09,Feb,23 21:31
The problem is the Constitution. It prohibits cruel and unusual punishment. Woody has it right
By phart [Ignore] 10,Feb,23 15:45 other posts
What is cruel about 4 clean walls and such?
What is crueler, the way a man butchers someone in a murder,or putting his ass in a cell?
By #610414 10,Feb,23 18:50
One has nothing to do with the other. Not too long ago murderers where hung by the neck three times, then tied to a table and every bone in his body broken, then his intestines were removed and burned in a fire pit, and finally, he was put into a burlap bagan throwned into a river. That is one of the reasons the Constitution forbids cruel and unusual punishment. Shutting someone into a cell and not allowing some change in his life is cruel and unusual punishment weather the convict stole food or for butchering someone. Can't you see that?

No I can't. Victims of crime were not given a choice or a chance. Nor should the criminal be given any sympathy.

It has worked since the Constitution was adopted, but, then again, you are better at this.
By phart [Ignore] 11,Feb,23 15:36 other posts
no it hasn't. The death penalty has been used alot less in the last couple decades. Liberal policys have eliminated bail so the door handles are worn out on the jails.
By #610414 12,Feb,23 12:39
Bail has NOT been eliminated. May I remind you that bail is set are the wim of the presiding judge up to, and including, refusal to give bail? Judges are notorious right wingers.

The Federal government does not make vaccinations mandatory. State and local laws can and do require certain vaccines mandatory for school children to attend school. If you homeschool your children, you don't need to vaccinate them, but, if Family and Children's Services finds out about it you can be charged with child endangerment and loose your children. We've been arguing about the Covid vaccine/shots for three years. Okay, I get it, some of us are scared of the side effects. SO IF YOU DON'T WANT IT DON'T GET IT. Most of us got it and we feel comfortable enough that, even if we get it, it'll be a mild case. Death will be a minimal risk. We no longer care if you, who didn't/don't want it, d!e. The same with other vaccines, don't take them if you don't want to. I hear Polio is great these days. Heck, with disability scooters, who needs legs? Yellow fever? Quinine is still available. You can say the shakes are from a bender. How about that influenza?

As far as that woman in Washington state, I don't care wether she lives or d!es. I do care that she's putting other people in danger. This is the same argument we had with the Covid vaccine/shots. As long as she stays in isolation, then great. If not, then she should be jailed in the appropriate institution and kept in isolation.
YES, THIS IS AMERICA, LAND OF THE FREE AND THE FOOLISH. It's also my land and I don't want TB, Covid, or any other crap carried by someone else.
People's religious rights stop, where the rights of other people
to not get infected by a deathly disease begin.

Not in America they don't and I'm not American!!!
The the right to religious freedom overrides most of American law at some point!! even though there is supposed to be a separation of God and state, every American president has said "god bless America" at some point!! So God comes first for a lot of religious people!!
As I said , individual rights versus collective rights dominate life!!!my right to say no to something versus a government who tells me I have to do something!!!
I'm sure you can find examples of religious rights overriding the actual law!!!!
I think there was a story bout a baker not wanting to bake cakes for gay couples, that religious right overrides equality!
Just cuz all religions discriminate as part of its indoctrination.
By #610414 07,Feb,23 13:25
God is not a religion, it's the belief that there's a supreme being. God bless America is a sentiment and does not violate the separation of religion and state. Requiring that all male babies be circumcised, or that abortions are illegal, that is where church and state are mixing.
By mr_blue [Ignore] 07,Feb,23 14:26 other posts
but what do most religious people believe in? A god
So their God/supreme being and belief in that way of life!
Overrides local laws!!
By #610414 07,Feb,23 19:51
Followers of Buddhism too? 🤣. I understand your point of view or, I could also say, "Oh, for Christ's sake." Or even, "God damn it". These, in the context of a President evoking God, it's not a mixture of church and state. I also admit that occasionally, the two butt heads. How do you feel about a child's death because his parents religion forbids treatment? Do you think it's right for the state to step in and save his life?
Before we get into a discussion on church mixing with state you should research how many countries have recognized one religion as the national religion. In Latin countries it's been the Catholic Church until recently. Maybe some are still like that. That's what it really means. Having a nativity scene outside the courthouse is only an appeasement to the rabid Christian right.

Church and state separation to you means no actual churches involved in government, I'm saying someone's personal belief can be religious and dictates how they live!!!! That's why presidents say God bless America, cuz of their personal belief in God!!!
As for Buddhism, yeah it's more of a belief system than a religion, but it's the same point!!
What you believe dictates your life at all levels!!!if you are a true believer.
A ch1ld dying cuz of their parents inaction through religious belief happens all the time!!! As I pointed out in another post,Jehovah's witnesses don't follow the law of the land they follow the Bible!!!!

Cool, what happens when everyone gets bored of the way they do things? How do you decide on new leaders then? If only there was a way to pick people to do that job in way that seems fair!!!hmmm!!! Maybe voting for someone who put their case forward to be the top person!

Instead of voting why don’t they throw the candidates in a steel cage match and let them fight it out winner takes all

Well, if wars were fought that way, I bet they would end quicker. Putin and zelensky in a cage,f ight to the death, over in a couple hours, no other deaths, no suffering of the population, very little economic damage.

But how about the champion system?

Can the Dutch send Rico Verhoeven to take over the US?
I'm sure he would do better as president than either Trump or Biden.

Personal beliefs will always be something a member of any government must keep at bay. It's well know I support a woman's right to choose an abortion. If I was in government I would work towards codifying it, yet, I would never choose to have an abortion. My beliefs may influence my decisions to bring good to the public, but, they should not do so if a clear majority wants something else. This doesn't mean that, regardless of the bociferous rants of a group of people, I would support anything that I know would harm this country.
Jehovah's witnesses follow the Bible, but, witch part?

You are not forced to leave your safe zone to be exposed to things either.
By #610414 07,Feb,23 13:27
But you are. You need food, medical care, social interactions that need for you to be exposed.

so how did lock down work???????
Food was brought to those sick, medical care was over a computer monitor, social interaction was by computer or telephone.

I did. Thankfully, it was after I had the initial shots. It was very mild. I didn't need hospitalization.
