If I could afford a 150 M penthouse, I could afford to pay someone to carry me up that beautiful staircase.

We don’t get to see the staircase. Is the deep inner of the building, beautiful ?

I gave blood today so I’ve been laying on the couch napping and when awake, looking at YouTube. I don’t miss being in Michigan, I don’t miss the cold and I don’t miss the falling leaves.

I love the leaves still to this day, I love raking them in a pile and jumping in, even though I takes me longer to stand back up 🤣

As i get older, although I enjoy the colors, i dread clearing 3 acres of leaves, gonna be investing in a new leaf blower shortly,

I left the Glove in 1980. I miss the autumns there, and that’s about it. I certainly do NOT miss the mosquitos, nor do I miss the jackasses who are occupying Lansing! As my grandfather used to say, “Rotten sonsabitches!"
By bella! [Ignore] 19,Nov,25 01:50 other posts
You left the “Glove”? Hmmmmm….. I wonder where you lived because Michigan is definitely shaped like a mitten (at least the lower peninsula is).

What I find peculiar about Florida is their mosquitoes come out for about an hour and then go away.
By Lookatmine2 [Ignore] 19,Nov,25 02:23 other posts
I refer to the Glove as the Glove, because I’m a smartass. lol

I was born in Ludington, lived north of Grand Rapids for a while (Sparta area), and then got dragged over to the Thumb (Lexington and Croswell) when Dad got a job offer there. Did two years in Meyer Elementary in Lexington (5th and 6th grade), then did time in Cros-Lex junior high and high school (one of the worst school systems in the State outside of Detroit at the time. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it).

Parents got divorced in ’76 or ’77 (her cheatin’ heart) and the woman who gave birth to me dragged us four kids all around Sanilac County because she kept pissing off our landlords and getting us evicted when she wasn’t banging bar flies at the Colonial, a bar in Lexington at the time. My dad headed to Florida for a while after they split up. When he came back, I didn’t go live with him because the woman who gave birth to me had my head twisted up pretty badly. I missed a lot of years getting to know Dad better because of her. Turns out, he was a pretty good guy.

My senior year was endured in Mason County, in a school in one of the little towns that wasn’t Ludington, which was a little bit better than what I went through at Cros-Lex. Lived with my maternal grandparents that year. They were cool. I miss them, especially Grandpa.

I got the hell out of there in 1980 by joining the Navy, otherwise, I’d probably still be po’ white trash living in a rented singlewide somewhere in Mason County, on some backwoods gravel road. Career opportunities were rather meager, and low paying, during that time. It was, stay and stagnate, or flee and fly.

I left the state with zero regrets. I’m doing much better now.

That’s weird about the Florida skeeters. Michigan mosquitos are little bitches, 24/7. The state bird shouldn’t be the robin; it should be the mosquito.

What is up with a car that has a green exterior and a red interior and what kinda knucklehead spends their money on it? By the way, is anyone able to identify the make/model of car?

I thought it might be a Vette logo on the steering wheel but why would any dealership allow anyone the opportunity to order a green car with a red interior?

Life without pennies is a good thing.

By phart [Ignore] 12,Nov,25 19:16 other posts
why is that?
What will we do here in the states? Pay more for stuff because of round ups in price? I understand the high cost of the penny being made but we could have contracted that work out to china or india and kept the cost down.
By quint [Ignore] 12,Nov,25 19:59 other posts
kebmo is right.. life without pennies is good. In Canada we round up or down. If it costs 12 cents, you pay a dime, but if it's 13 cents, you pay 15. Besides, it's only when you're dealing in cash.. digital is still to the penny. At a cost of almost 4 cents each to make, the penny coin doesn't really pay for it self anymore..

That's a great idea phart, have your American currency made in China.
End sarcasm.

You said that the cost will round up but you forgot about the round down. It works out in the end and it only applies to cash sales not credit cards or debit cards. They go to the penny.

No one carries change anymore
By phart [Ignore] 13,Nov,25 11:25 other posts
speak for yourself.
I carry cash and change
I use a card for paying medical bills then pay it off in a few days, using the rewards i earn to help pay my bill lol,use their little system to my advantage.

What this no penny thing is leading to though is the cashless society that the 1 world government-liberal agenda is pushing for. All the transactions would be electronic, thus trackable, thus taxable, thus controllable. Thus eventually no free enterprise system. your kid wants to run a lemonade stand ,but has to pay for a machine to take cards and electronic means of payment, and would have to pay taxes on the small amount of money they make. All in the future, all needing nipped in the bud before it gets to far gone.

By Lookatmine2 [Ignore] 13,Nov,25 13:36 other posts
It costs about three cents to produce a penny. The penny coin is pointless and stupid today.

In some states and cities, it is illegal to round up a transaction to the nearest nickel or dime because doing so would run afoul of laws that are supposed to place cash customers and debit and credit card customers on an equal playing field when it comes to item costs.

A spokesman for Kwik Trip, the Midwest convenience store chain, says it has been rounding down every cash transaction to the nearest nickel. That's expected to cost the company roughly $3 million this year.

that is 1 company loosing 3 million a year because of this great idea,

I agree!

I was 1 of 3 children and we were all daughters. The life lessons/skills taught should not be geared toward sons, alone. I wish I would have been taught how to change a tire and prepare my own tax returns….. although I can’t recall any specific occasions, my GUESS is my father did change a flat tire or two. As for tax preparation, that annual obligation was given to a paid accountant. I do wish my mother would have held MANDATORY informal “cooking classes” for my sisters and demand I. Sadly, I DO NOT have the knowledge, skill or raw courage to undertake the cooking of a turkey and traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner!

That's a great idea but I'm sure their lawyers would tell them that people are assumed innocent until proven guilty.
I worked in a major department store once in one of my coworkers was talking about exactly this idea and we thought it was a great one. I still do.

I enjoy scrolling through YouTube and find many videos that show police slapping handcuffs on folks who are being “detained”. Is it possible that Walmart has the right to detain folks, until police arrive, in locked cages when they/Walmart has video evidence, that the subject was observed and or caught on camera concealing merchandise or skip scanning?
By kebmo [Ignore] 05,Nov,25 12:10 other posts
Of course you're probably right but I did pick up on the two words "skip scanning".
Isn't it ironic that someone could be arrested for not doing Walmart's employees jobs properly? 😄
I wonder why they don't have brooms on the bottom of the carts so we could sweep the floors while we're shopping.
By bella! [Ignore] 06,Nov,25 06:00 other posts
Hey, the brooms on the bottom of the shopping carts is a marvelous idea, you should trademark/copyright/patent (whatever the terminology is) your idea!

Self service checkouts, ATM’s, Ticketmaster, as well as the kiosks in McDonald’s were created for folks who want to get in and out and don’t want to wait in long lines and with that implementation, did away with a human being! Oi!
By Lookatmine2 [Ignore] 13,Nov,25 13:43 other posts
I avoid going to Walmart as much as possible. I have been to Walmart maybe four times at the most in the past twelve years.

It’s not the store; it’s the people who shop there that's keeping me out. Too many rude, malodorous, entitled, pajama-wearing trash wandering aimlessly around for my comfort.

If I need anything, I shop Walmart online. I just ordered two aloe vera plants from there online and they arrived within a couple of days. No need to go to the brick and mortar, as far as I am concerned.
By phart [Ignore] 13,Nov,25 15:40 other posts
I go about 3 times a week, pic up what i need and it gives me a chance to walk on a flat surface and have something to hold to, the buggy to help maintain balance. There are some weird o'z in there for sure some times. But if you don't feel safe there, just go to the automotive section first, get a can of brake clean and put it in the baby holder of the buggy and shop away, someone comes up trying some shit, just give em a shot of brake clean, they will leave you alone.
By bella! [Ignore] 14,Nov,25 06:52 other posts
I think you and Lookatmine2 are generalizing too much about Walmart. I would classify Walmart as a “discount” store and a discount store will attract people with “discounted incomes”.
By bella! [Ignore] 14,Nov,25 06:44 other posts
Malodorous!? Me, I probably would have just used “STINKY”.

So I see that the Aussie politicking and begging for votes doesn't just stop with the Walrus. I see the Aussiemidget does the same thing huh. Half way through the month and already close to 300 votes in POTM contest. While on the girls side a legit contest is going on (since the Walrus did not enter) and the votes are only at 80.
By bella! [Ignore] 18,Sep,18 11:52 other posts
You are smart enough to recognize that there is politicking, aka spamming for votes, going on. The contest has lost its luster and he's not THAT popular. Well, maybe he is if he avoids being blacklisted by people that dislike being spammed.
